The AMT Thread...

Okay...first off, this IS NOT a flame war thread. So dont start anything...(Or I'll wash your mouth out! 😛)

I was just curious how many people here are veterans of that most unholy of battlefields. We would do well to remember the mistakes of the past so we do not repeat them. I know many of our mods here were from there, like me (was known as Doctor Insaniac at the time). Any personal feelings or ideas? Any interesting stories are andecdotes from the AMT Era? Or would anyone like to say a few words for those who have been missing in action since those days? (A lot of people left the net PERMANENTLY after dealing with that place long enough)

Often times I like to think of it as kind of like AMT was our "Dark Ages" and the TMF is our Renaissance Period. So in this way the AMT was not a "bad" place, just a necessary step in our evolution as a community. Who knows what may come next after the TMF....something worth pondering...

I personally would like to say a few words about Madame Tatiana. The first female in the community to give me the time of day and open up to me. Since returning to Russia no ones heard from her and I hope she finds her way to an internet terminal at some point in the future. And yes I am well aware about that whole debate where people were accusing me and her of being the same person...(if it were true, why would I bring it up now?)...one of the first attacks I ever suffered at the hands of that place. Keep in mind this was during the days of AMT, where any willing and open female was accused of being fake or a "homo" looking for fun, while being flooded with perverted E-mails by the same people who were doing the bitching. I met her in person once and I must say there is not a classier or more dignified lady such as herself in this world.

Battlefield AMT

Many of us were there, because it was the only outlet. Yup, I duked it out and learned to shoot fast and hard in the wild west atmosphere, but it was a ridiculous setup with chaos as king and civil behavior an untenable notion. It was indeed an evolutionary experience that demonstrated the best and worst traits of its inhabitants on a daily basis. Bad? Beats me...it was the only game in town and you either swam or sank as your abilities and personality allowed. I still visit once in a while....not sure how many people left permanently as you stated, but there was a lot of dead screenames floating around as people attempted a fresh start. Q

Seems like I lurked there forever until I met Scott and visited his tickling galaxy and tickling universe sites.....then came the early version of what we are today and the rest is history....

AMT bad...no....a few overzealous flamers at times but I never found it to be an evil place and I stilll hang out there from time to time..

I downloaded quite a bit of material from there in the old days...not much going on there now....

I agree...when I first found AMT is wasn't to bad at all...met some of my best online friends there...even met Doc Insaniac there as well as Tatiana. But it did not take long for me to see all the ugliness that existed. I remember when someone impersonated me and my email address and posted that myself and Sexi Mexi (from our HotelTickle dayz) had aids and had to leave the community! Now that was some crazy shit! But inlight of it all, we were supported by hundreds of emails from the "caring" members in the community lending us there support which made us feel really special, so there was some good that came out of it.

Now that we have the TMF I see no reason to ever return To AMT. This place was Scott's greatest idea ever and has a very long and bright future!

Alt.multimedia.tk, one of the Usenet groups dedicated to tickling, and as far as I know, the only one currently active. (The others, alt.sex.fetish.tickling and alt.binaries.multimedia.erotica.tickling, have been overrun by spammers.)

Because my first real experiences with finding tickling media on the Net were through a.s.f.t., I still do read a.m.t., but it's rare these days I find anything worth saving or commenting on. As BigJim said, most of the posters (myself included) have moved on elsewhere -- often to here -- and for the most part, the only signs of life I ever see are a bit of desultory flaming and the usual eruption of bitching whenever someone posts m/m material.

That said, and despite his sometimes questionable positions, I think Robert Hare (Animated GIF Man) deserves credit in the community for founding the group and keeping it open and mostly spam-free for so long -- not an easy job on Usenet. Before boards like this, a.m.t. and its sister groups were all there was for most of us.

To compare AMT to the TMF in my opinion is like comparing democracy to totalitarianism. If you like freedom of speech, without the fear of censorship, then AMT is probably better suited to you. If you like the protection of a controlled atmosphere, the TMF may be your preference. An advantage AMT has over the TMF is that you can post (and/or download) a variety of tickling multimedia. An advantage the TMF has over AMT is a real-time chatroom. Also, the TMF is more readily accessible to newcomers to the tickling community. In my opinion, the ideal forum would combine the best of both worlds: A forum that would be easily found and excessible by anybody on the web, no censorship, postable multimedia, and a chatroom. Probably not feasible today, perhaps one day.... 🙂

I think comparing the TMF to AMT is like comparing a reasonably free and happy society, to an anarchic one. If you're happy to wade through pitched battles, swearing, misery and mayehm...then the AMT might just hold something for you.

On the other hand if you like some order, saneness and freedom of opinion, so long as you don't directly attack someone's character, then the TMF is the best bet.


The TMF is much better set up too though. As Drew said there's the chat room, and the fact that we have sub-divisions within the forum. The AMT is much more bland with it's main board.

To say that AMT is like democracy isn't quite right, I don't think. A democratic society doesn't just go with the will of the majority, it protects the rights of the minorities. AMT is just a place where the louded voice and the best hacking skills wins.

The TMF isn't democratic by any stretch of the imagination, but then why should it be? It's not a country or an organisation bound to a constitution, it's a private party, run in a private house. The only time someone gets hoofed out the door is when they start blatantly flaming others, not when their opinions are different or even outrageous. That said, I disagree that the TMF is totalitarian.

I lurked at the AMT for a long time. It was one of the first information recourses that opened my eyes to the tickling community. Now unfortunately it is but a graveyard of writers and collectors long since passed. So I guess that would make this heaven 🙂... or hell 😉 . Either way I enjoy it.

Cheshire, I still like AMT. It's not near as entertaining as the TMF, but it has a nostalgic quality to it. Back about 9 years ago it was filled with good tickle talk, but it seems that the only vocal few who hang out there now are so busy flaming everyone it's lost the fun. Binaries are awesome, but most prople have no idea what binaries are, or even newsgroups for that matter. Well, back to writing here and lurking there 🙂
