In the continuation of the current story revolving around Jen and her friends, family... a new pc computer game is going to appear!

This is half of the episode called "The Apocalypse", which will also close the "The Return of Jen" series (which is thus a trilogy with computer game).

It will contain some tickling scenes and a tickling reward picture at the very end upon completing the game.

This game will not be an adventure game (such as Down the Bunny Hole and Nagas) but something completely different. What it is exactly like I will not yet reveal, but I am giving you a teaser screen-shot now, which is not showing an actual level. For this game I have built my own tools (a level creator and converter) because without those I'd be sitting with my hands in my hair.

However, the picture does reveal some things: Fw-EEK-Hee is in it, as well as Emma. Other than that you see one of the octopus people (or squid people as I am currently dubbing them) you could have already seen in my recent picture titled "Aftermath". Oh yeah, and you can see that these creatures are a tad bigger than humans...

Also, on the top you can see that there's labels for Emma and her father, the one that is lit up (ie. in colour) is the active character. Yes, in this game you can play multiple characters and levels can contain UP TO THREE of them simultaneously! They will need each other's help if they want to try to make the oncoming catastrophe a little bit less catastrophic. Will they succeed? Will they be able to save everyone they want? You will find out during this game. All of the familiar character are player controlled.

What else... Oh, I will be supplying the level editor along with the game, for those people who like to make their own levels and play them, share them, etc. It's not the most user-friendly or even bug-free tool, but I rather spend my time in making the game good and being able to finish it before Christmas this year than spending a lot of time on the level editor. 😉

Anyway, the release is planned within 2 weeks. The game is at this moment functional, but a bunch of artwork still needs to be created, and levels designed.

Project update:

- Level 1 through 4 are finished and working great.
- I have included key customization, so you can play with keys that are comfortable to you if the default keys are not to your liking.
- I also included a little 'tool window' where you can click with your mouse to indicate in which direction you want the character to walk, for those who prefer that. All directions are diagonal, so regular cursor keys or ASDW might not feel natural... again, for those who want to try it, you can customize them.
- You can't put the cursor keys however (Sorry) unless you edit the keys.ini file yourself and put the key code of the cursor keys there.

Game background information:

So the apocalypse is at hand. Fw-EEK-Hee has come to Earth with his spaceship, naturally worried like mad about Jen, his kids (Emma and Emmi), their family and friends. So he is going to try to save them.

Upon his arrival on Earth, he finds the place is not only crowded with squidlike creatures, the landscape is also filled with huge blocks of ice. The temperature, naturally, is a lot lower than it would have normally been around the same time of the year.

Will Fw-EEK-Hee be able to save everyone?

The answer, which may or may not be a surprise to you, is no.

No less than TWO characters of the core cast are going to be leaving the series. I won't reveal who they are (except that Christopher is not one of them, he is not counted to the core cast, rather a guest character, so is the Superior by the way). Your guess is probably as good as anyone else's. But you will have to play the game to find out.

For now, another picture, showing Fw-EEK-Hee arriving at Earth. This is in fact the Level 1 introduction picture which will be the first thing you'll see when you start the game.

This looks really good so far. I'm excited to see how it will turn out. I hope there's some nylon tickling in this :stickout

I won't promise it. There will be nylons in the game, but I'm known for the fact that I don't draw those very often. Nonetheless, one of the characters will be wearing them... whether they'll be tickled in them you will just have to wait and see. I'll try to include it but no promises at this point.

Talking about tickling, this is something that you'll be able to see in the game in several instances, mostly either by (intentionally) losing a level, otherwise there are a few more places where you may see a little tickle action in the level itself. In any way there is NO tickling or tickling possibilities before level 9. By the way, the first 15 levels are sort of introductory levels. You'll get to learn the ropes of the game bit by bit. That's not said that there is no challenge in those, because there is. But it gets a bit harder at the end, I think.

Now... the game is fun, but the amount of tickle pictures is somewhat limited, so I don't really want to show you teasers including tickling... better to save those for the game itself, but I'm willing to make one exception. The following image is actually a cell of a simple (2-frame) tickle animation which you'll be able to see in-game in one of the levels. Of course it will be in colour then, and animating... this is just the line-work. I thought it'd be nice posting this picture also because this is an in-level image and will thus be downscaled to 20% of its original size. Some like it big, so here you can see a good view of the scene.

Thanks Dag!

I am on a pretty strict deadline with this project, as I want to release it before Christmas this year (which is really soon) and if I can't make that, it means it'll be next year because I'm going to be away with Xmas.

Anyway, the total amount of levels is still unknown, I hope to make at least 30 of them, but each of them goes with a little piece of artwork (unless I cheat and change that after level 16)

The status is as follows:
- 16 levels are completed.
- 3 more characters need to be inserted (they have been drawn)
- 3 more tk scenes need to be drawn
- Reward picture needs to be drawn
- n levels to be created (The number probably depends on how much time I have for it)
- I used a new technique, there should be no flickering on the screen (with exception of two small buttons and an small info box, I could not prevent that).
- Everything else mentioned is in I think. There's custom key configuration, you can create own levels with the level editor, select them in-game and play them. Movements work, switching characters works, there's so called MOBs, they work. All I need to do, technically, is more artwork and design more levels.

Here's another teaser, but I removed the title of the level because otherwise I'd give away too much (namely the key to jump straight to level 16).

Edit: I decided to also show a screenshot of the same scene you see described in the level info window. That's a snipped of the actual play field. You saw a bit in my first shot (very empty with two characters and a mob), this is actual game content. Oh, and there will be no demo. I don't have time to make it, I just want to release this before Xmas if I can.

Another little sneak preview...

including some of the tickle image cut-outs. These are not being drastically rescaled by the way, they are not part of the play-field but images you might get to see in between of the levels or when you lose.

And they are going to be in colour, I removed the colour layer for this preview. You'll have to play the game to see it in it's full glory.

Other notes:
- I tried to make the tickle scenes as different from each other as possible, so each has a bit its own pose. So I didn't copy one picture over and over and pasted another head on it.
- This game contains some partial nudity, but that's ONLY because Miki is shown in the game... who's dressed as she usually is. Other than that, you see no nipples, no other private areas.
- This game contains mostly /F material, but there is a small amount of /M as well. Specifically Fw-EEK-Hee and some civilians.

Another little update.

- Level 1 - 25 have been finished. 🙂
- Some levels are pretty easy, others are tricky. They are mixed somehow, so you won't start with easy and get a little harder time after time... sometimes after a pretty tough level you get a fairly easy one.
- The civilian in-game tk animation is pending, I'm probably dropping it. Sorry.
- Artwork has otherwise been finished, the reward picture still needs to be coloured.
- I'm intending to make 5 more levels, perhaps a few more than that, let's see. Each of the new levels also needs a small picture.
- Even though this game is not from Jen's point of view (the comic chapter under the same name will be), you will get to see her here and there along the way.
- I have added a flash screen (a proper title screen was still missing till today), which I'm adding as an attachment here as well. 🙂

Okay!

The game is ready and...

RELEASED!
Download it from my artist pad

Note, to see all of the tickle artwork, you'll have to cause a 'game over' situation with each of the playable characters. Of course at the end there's also the tk-art reward (final picture) featuring Jen.

Enjoy!

Pretty fun little game you've made. I've made it to level 26 so far. I like level 25. That's pretty amusing how Jen is being mercilessly tickled and there's nothing that can be done about it. :lol It reminded me of a picture Cheshire Cat drew once depicting Bowser tickling Princess Peach. I'm sure you've seen it before. The joke was that Peach would be tickled nonstop until the "player" (the viewer) beats the game.

I love it! The gameplay is really fun. Currently stuck on level 8. This is a tough one.

Thanks! Glad you like it. I made something like this (non-tk and on another platform) a long long time ago, but in 2d and this is a huge step forward from that. Although I think that the 3D version is at times a bit difficult to oversee, especially with obstacles blocking things so easily... but for that I put in two buttons to modify the view a bit.

I am not sure I know which Ches-pic you're talking about, will have to look through his gallery to see if I can spot it.

By the way, be careful about mentioning the level names here... (sorry, I didn't write about that, forgot). Basically, by writing the level name, you're giving away the key to jump straight to that level without having to try the stuff before it. People who didn't play the first few levels may not know how to continue at that point since they have skipped the step by step introduction where they learn the ropes... but still. Saying "level 12" is better than saying "the level called 'LevelName'. 😉

I love it! The gameplay is really fun. Currently stuck on level 8. This is a tough one.

Thanks for your comment. Remember to press those buttons on the top right to get a better view of the field when you need it (hiding the walls and maybe the ice shortly can help you see where you might be able to go a little better). In Level 8 there are TWO exits (and each character will take a different one... as the level's name already suggests. The second one is in the top right of the screen, which can be seen if you switch the ice to 'solid' (transparency off) and hide the obstacles. That combination lowers both ice AND walls. Maybe that helps. 🙂

PS: If you're at level 8, that means you're just one level away from where you can get to see the first 'tickle action' if you like.

Edit: To those who wanted to try out the level editor included with the game, you will find out it gives an error when starting. I forgot to include a little file that it needs, which I have separately attached in the 5th post of the Apocalypse download thread on my artist pad. So if you want to try it out, please download that, unrar it and place the file "EMPTY.tad" in the folder where the level editor executable is. Then it should work.

Short, but interesting. Great engine, but I disliked the idea of everyone having 'cold feet' at the end.

Well by the looks of it, you will throw out expansion to this, but I wonder what major changes will you do.

Thanks, Bashiku.

I know, 30 levels is not that much, not to mention that two of them are really short.

There are no plans for an expansion. There will however be a comic chapter (with the same title) which will show things from Jen's point of view. And after that, everyone who got "cold feet" as you put it, will get their feet warmed again. That's the good thing about stoves. Haha, no but really, those who have been frozen in ice are not gone forever. They're 'well preserved' rather. Realistic or not, they will be unfrozen when the temperature comes down again (although that takes a long long time) and Fw-EEK-Hee still has a trick or two under his belt (more literally than you might think). But that's for later, first the counter part, which is the comic chapter (next year).

And about the 'expansion'... you can expand it as much as you want by creating more levels yourself. Of course that doesn't add to the story and it doesn't add artwork... but if you want to design and play more levels, or even share them here... yeah, nothing is stopping you.

"By the way, be careful about mentioning the level names here."

Oops. I honestly didn't consider that. But if someone does cheat, well they're missing out on the other fun levels.

That's true. No worries. Eventually I'll probably be providing the list of names anyway under a spoiler warning (for those who are stuck and frustrated) but it's a bit too early for that now.

Stuck and frustrated... with that. It is interesting, but with little brainstorming it is fun enough and challenging, unlike your gambling games where I always lose...

Ah, different people like different games. Luckily for most of the people here I make/made a wide variety of games. Not only gambling games or only adventure or puzzle games. There's a little something for everyone I think.

By the way, I might be able to push out the first bit of the comic 'The Apocalypse' out before Christmas as well. Today was my last work-day and tomorrow I still have a bunch of time to work on something that I have already started. So... but then the rest is coming at the end of the year and in the new year.

I'm really loving the game. Just wanted to let you know that level 27 is not showing the level name.

Can someone pm me the name to level 27?

Oh, I see.

Yes, it initially shows the level name (when you reach it, coming from the previous level) but for some reason it's not showing it when you press Escape during gameplay. Anyway, if you don't have it yet, let me know and I'll PM you the level name.
