I am some-what a fan of Manson's music and I know that ome people (on Usenet) tried to decipher the messege behind his song "The Beuatiful People" and this is my attempt. Let me know if you feel that I am in error and/or failed to add anything of notice
I think that Manson is lashing out against a conceited, materialistic, and follow-the-sheep society where one is judged solely on the merit of material posessions and is lashing out at a society that worships such people and places them on a pedastel, regardless of how shallow or corrupted they are.
It all about how much money is in the bank, the size of your house, how many BMWs you own, but never about what is in your heart.
He is lashing out at those who cannot see past their own shallow existance, and think they are high and mightier than others, simply because of their social standings or amount of wealth, and judge others on the basis of material wealth
Like the lyrics go "You cannot see the forest, because of the trees and you cannot smell the shit, that's on your knees".
The message he is sending to the "Beautiful People" (the shallow people) is one of "you're not "all that" and your shit stinks just as much as the next person's"
What is everybody else's take on that?
