Ok, so everybody knwos that when top ten lists are made, it's only 'my opinion' or 'your opinion' or whatever, and there is no such thing as a good band or film etc. Well I say balls to that Henhouse shit! Put what you think are the BEST, not your favourites. More discussion should emerge that way. Mine (one per artist):

1.Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band- The Beatles
2.Pet Sounds- The Beach Boys
3.Blonde On Blonde- Bob Dylan
4.Dark Side Of The Moon- Pink Floyd
5.London Calling- The Clash
6.Born To Run- Bruce Springsteen
7.Nevermind- Nirvana
8.Are You Experienced?- The Jimi Hendrix Experience
9.IV- Led Zeppelin
10.& Nico- The Velvet Underground

Don't you love pop music?

6.LEXICON OF LOVE=ABC
7.PYROMANIA=DEF LEPPARD

Wish You Were Hear/ Pink Floyd
"White Album"/ The Beatles
Born To Run/ Bruce Springsteen
LA Woman/ The Doors
Bat Out of Hell/Meatloaf
Highway 61 Revisited/ Bob Dylan

Sigh, to name a few. I had a bunch of greatest hits in mind, but I just stuck with albums! Cool thread!

1. Rush - Moving Pictures
2. Led Zeppelin - IV
3. The Who - Who's Next
4. Rush - Different Stages live
5. Led Zeppelin - Houses of the Holy
6. The Who - Live at Leeds
7. Pink Floyd - The Wall
8. Camel - Mirage
9. Marillion - Clutching at Straws

yep that's it.

I've answered this before, but I usually get a different answer each time.

2. Radiohead - OK Computer
3. Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
4. Led Zeppelin - IV
5. Jimi Hendrix - Are you Experienced?
6. The Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed
7. The Beatles - The White Album
8. Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble - Couldn't Stand the Weather
9. The Police - Synchronicity
10. The Chemical Bros. - Push the Button

I always question what style of music this thread pertains to. Are we talking the 10 best records in general? In rock? Jazz? Blues? Pop?

An "all catagories" list would have to include:

Miles Davis- "Kind of Blue"
Johnny Cash- "Live at Folsom Prison
Ray Charles- "Best of the Atlantic Years"
Little Feat- "Waiting For Columbus"
John Coltrane- "Coltrane Plays the Blues"
Muddy Waters- "The Golden Anniversary Collection"
Funkadelic- "Maggot Brain

My current opinion of the ten best albums - certainly not my ten most-listened, but there is some crossover. Again, no particular order.

A Perfect Circle - Thirteenth Step
Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill
Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
Styx - The Grand Illusion
Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand
Metallica - Master of Puppets
Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes
Lacuna Coil - Unleashed Memories
Lou Reed - New York
Talking Heads- Stop Making Sense

As usual........

.......you Americans ignore your own great Jazz heritage! well done to TKL Drew for flying the flag. I cant believe how many of you picked crappy British pop bands.

Still lets look on the bright side, no country and western so far!

Hey Red, I could easily replace any of the rock or blues bands I listed with:

Miles Davis- "In a Silent Way"
Miles Davis- "Sketches of Spain"
Kenny Burrell- "Midnight Blue"
Stanley Turrentine- "Up at Minton's"
Jimmy Smith- "The Sermon"
Lee Morgan- "The Sidewinder"
Any Art Tatum collection

Drew

Actually Red, someone earlier had listed Garth Brooks, Dixie Chicks, Reba McIntyre, Kenny Chesney, Johnny Cash (But that one Ill always let slide)

So actually there were several country and western records mentioned...
but at least theres no Billy Ray Cyrus!

Rob

PS Let me add one more album to my list...Weird Al Greatest Hits!!

Rob

This is a rough one, but here's 10 in no order and chosin by originality/creativity/briliantness, not faves..that would be a diff catogory as the original poster said (although 2 of these are in fact in my faves lol)

Pink Floyd - The Wall
Giorgio - From Here To Eternity
Patrick Cowley - Megatron Man
Rolling Stones - Their Satanic Majesty's Request
Queen - News Of The World
Alec R. Costandinos - Sumeria
Herb Alpert - Beyond
Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon
Andrae Crouch - I'll Be Thinking Of You
Tomita - Snowflakes Are Dancing

The only three that keep recurring are The White Album, London Calling and Dark Side Of The Moon, so I guess they're the official top three:
1.Dark Side Of The Moon
2.The White Album
3.London Calling

Keep voting!
