The CALM act - loud commercials

A commercial on TV was so loud last night that it woke my dog, and it made me look into that new law that was supposed to have passed, requiring commercials to be no louder than the programming surrounding them.

It's called the CALM act, and it passed late last year. The FCC website now has a category called "loud commercials" where you can report your cable provider and get them fined if they are still playing that game.

I'm not one for more government intervention... but in this case I'll make an exception. Shame on the broadcasters not squelching this behavior before needing a law for it. Worse, they've had the technology to limit the volume and normalize it for decades. Bout fuckin time. Now... if we can just get Lawyers and Drug manufactures of the airwaves.

True. I can't quite put my finger on what it was about him, but it worked. Maybe the double thumbs up, the shoe polish black beard and cheesy smile. Probably the confidence.

I think it was the mad, crazy, over-the-top enthusiasm for any product he was selling. Let's face it, only Billy Mays could make a hand-held kitchen chopper sound like an amazing item, lol.

This drives me CRAZY! It has gotten a little better over the past few months, but it is. so. friggin'. ANNOYING. I'm sitting and watching tv, when all of a sudden... "ARE YOU OVERWEIGHT? HAS IT GOTTEN SO BAD YOU ARE CONSIDERING LIPOSUCTION?" .....While I sit there eating my bag of potato chips..
