I agree, although it's been a good many years since I played it, so maybe I should say "loved".

..limitless options..
No, actually.

At each move, you have finitely many options. And there are only finitely many games possible, since there is a rule which states that if 50 moves go by with neither a piece captured nor a pawn advanced then the game is a draw.

.excellent game.
I agree.

I wanna learn how to play Chess! One peroson said he would teach me, wound up checkmating me 8 or 9 times in a row and thinking it was funny

Teaching?

Whomever you were "learning" from isn't much of a teacher Limeoutsider. Chess is a complicated process, an abstract way of thinking that represents years of learning (unless you're one of the mystical .001% who are naturals at the game). My father was nearing grandmaster status at one time a decade or so ago, but it was consuming his life and he has forsaken playing anything but the computer these days. I was able to give him a decent game about 20 years ago, mostly due to my unorthodox attack patterns, but he moved well beyond my childish schemes, and so we rarely played. Perhaps he's faded enough for me to grab an occasional game these days....good idea Ice! Perhaps a TMF Chess Club is in the offing? Or we can all gang up on some poor chess program and try to win together...lol. 🙄 Q

This kid (we were 13 or 14 at the time) made it look like he beat that hiy whose really really good at chess. The one who keeps tying the comp or beating the comp...I think he's Russian...anyway, I haven't played chess since

Chess is both fun and challenging. Anyone can play it, but to truly master the game is not easy. I haven't played chess in a while, so I'm a bit rusty, but I have beaten most of my opponents and am able to think a few moves ahead--not that I don't occasionally get my ass kicked. 😛

I love chess. Though the people I play against consistantly beat me. But I know I am alright merely because I amplaying against them I suppose.

I saw Searching for Bobby Fischer and loved it

It's great film with a great message. Well cast, well directed. Great screenplay. True story about Josh Bliskin (sp?), a child chess prodigy, and the conflict between his competitive chess coach (brilliantly played by Ben Kingsley) and his mother (Joan Allen). If you like chess and you like good film, it's a must see. 😉
