I am a litle bored so I decided that every couple of days I will post a little tidbit that I have come across in my travels on the net. These tidbits are little oddities that you might have or might not have known. Todays tidbit is
Did you know that money is not made out of paper it is made out of cotton😀

Umm...yes

I knew it was made of a clothlike substance....paper is way too flimsy, and besides, since i own a laundromat, I've seen a LOT of it washed and dried!

Mind if i jump in with one?
Did you know: If you feed a lab rat beer, it will live 6 times longer than a rat who drinks only water?

New Format?

How about we try it this way...we'll pose the question and see if anybody does know. I'll start with one that I expect my buddy Red Indian to get ..(that's a hint, for all you readers..lol)

Did you know: Why the police are sometimes referred to as "The Fuzz?"

The wonders of the internet

i found a few explanations for it....one was that it was derived from the word fuss...meaning the cops were fussy and hard to please.
another idea was that in criminal slang the word fuzz meant ...unmanly incompetent and soft..and criminals started calling the cops that to insult them.

or my own personal idea.....after they hit you with the nightstick so many times they start to look fuzzy. heh j/k

The answer...

Actually its derived from the original outfit of the London Police force...which featured fuzzy helmets..it traveled over to the States from there.

Next: Do you know:

Which woman is mentioned the MOST times in the Bible? Nope...her name isn't Mary.

Oooh...so close

Closer on the first guess...it's Sarah, with 56 separate mentions! Fun religous facts to know and tell!

Next one:

Do you know: The definition of the word "melcryptovestimentaphiliac"?

Cryptic Hint>>>>
This could have been many of us guys in our glory years in college!!

Easy ones...

Starting out with the easy ones...lol..here's your answer, BTW.

Jesus' nickname for John and his brother was "Boanerges" which means something like "Sons of Thunder" - evidence of John's zeal and temper, and perhaps of Jesus' sense of humor.

Q...keeper of many useless pieces of semiarcane knowledge

melcryptovestimentaphiliac

A person that compulsively steals ladies underware.

i wonder if there is much use for that word? 🙂

Good questions, guys....here's one for the Star Wars fans.

In the Death Star trash compactor (Episode IV; A New Hope), Luke was attacked by a creature known as a "Dianoga".

What is the origin of the name "Dianoga"?

Hint: It was the original name of something in the first draft of the script.

😀

Prime!

Nice job bud...and I've yet to work it into a conversation, but if I hang out near a lingerie shop I probably have a 50/50 chance!

As for Daves critter...beats me...I know it's omnivorous and from a planet that starts with a "V"...Verdon or something, after that I'm out! Oooh....7 tentacles...a few flippers...nope...all i got!

Next!

While waiting to find out if that critter was a can opener or whatever, here's another:

Do You Know>>>
How many warts does a typical warthog have, and where are they most commonly found.. (a 2 parter!! We're practically a gameshow!)

The last I remember (and that's not much these days)...a warthog has only two major warts....above it's eyes. Am I right?

I leave the "Dianoga" question open for more to read before I answer it.😎

Half right...lol

The typical warthog has 4 warts...hardly living up to its name, hmm? And they are indeed dispersed about the head only....partial credit to my Jedi friend!

Lemme see, let's switch categories a bit:

Do you know>>>

The 2 most published playwrights in history? (#1 is a gimme...lol)

One more try....

Okay, here's my final swat at Daves question, but i actually had to do some research, which is unusual for me...

- Koensayr's Dianoga starfighter was one of the last and most popular ship designs produced by the company before becoming known for the Y-Wing which was often found in Rebel starfleets. ...

Q

Partially correct, Q....but that reference is in "non-canonical" text only.

The true answer is this. In the original draft of "Star Wars" the legendary defenders of the galxy were know as the "Dia-Noga", which was later changed to "Jedi". Lucas liked the name so much, that he stuck it on the slimy creature in the Death Star Trash Bin. 😀

Liked it?

Hate to see what he would have done with it if he hated it...lol. Q

William shakespeare and Dr. Suese 😀

sorry about not taking a crack at the star wars one but i don't know much about it. looking at my answer here i don't know much about playwrites either...lol..anyone else want a crack at it.🙂

IIRC, the beasties are native to the Vodran System, in the Klatoo Cluster near Hutt Space.

More biblical interesting things

Do you know why the number 13 is considered unlucky? (I'm sure there may me more than one answer to this one, but anyone know the "biblical" reason why?)

Doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo.....(Jeopardy theme...)

Ayla!

Hi stranger..and I believe she's perfectly correct about the 13 (as she nearly always is..lol), and as for the playwrights, yup...Shakespeare is of course #1, and we have to give props to ScotTickle, because #2 is Neil Simon! Nice job...

Another? Do You Know>>>>>>>

The oldest American collegiate sport still in existence?

Figured I'd throw a sports one in since it's an Olympic time of year.... Q

I'll hazard a guess here - rowing.

Hmmm, now for my own question. I'll give it some thought guys!
