This thread is simple. Post a link to your favorite song (probably a YouTube video) and give your interpretation of it. I could never simply say I have one "favorite song", but one that I've listened to a lot recently is "Museum of Flight" by Damien Jurado. If you haven't heard of him, he's a singer/song writer from Seattle who has been active since the mid 90's. Here is the link to the song:

To me this song is about falling in love and being reluctant about it at first, but ultimately coming to accept it. Maybe it's with someone you feel like you shouldn't be in love with, or maybe it's because you know you will be "get burned." Still you know your feelings, and want that person to know it. It's about accepting that love isn't perfect and may cause a lot of heartache, but the benefits of it are worth the risk. The first thing I though of when I heard this song was the famous chicken and egg monologue at the end of Annie Hall (one of my favorite movies ever.)

I'd love to hear from you guys. It doesn't have to be as serious as the one I just posted. It can be silly if you want. I just love music and feel it is a great way to express yourself.

Sam Cooke - A Change Is Gonna Come

I can hardly listen to this song the whole way through without tearing up a bit. Sam Cooke sings it from somewhere deep in his gut and you can feel all the sadness, the struggle in his voice, and though I can't quite relate to the civil rights movement like those that have lived it, I can relate to going through hard times and having only the hope that a change is gon' come to keep you going.

Mad Season - "River of Deceit"

Any time I listen to this song, the sheer power of Layne Staley's lyrics cut me to the bone no matter what my frame of mind may very well be at the time. This song can instantly give my clarity no matter my circumstances. It affirms my belief that if my mind can cause a problem it can conversely solve a problem. And it represents a firm understanding that depression is a real concern and continuing along that path allows the depression to grow. I have found immense comfort even in my darkest days just be hearing the opening chords of this song.

It is really hard to name one, sorry, but all I can say is that my most favorites are those that run in "minor" key/chords... They tend to resonate well in my thoughts.

@AnnieHall, one of many of classics I enjoy. I honestly can't pick just one.

One of my favorite tracks at the moment is the track "Svart Industriell Olycka" (Black Industrial Misery) by Shining. The style is DSBM (Depressive Suicide Black Metal). Im going through a tough time these days and this track is pure therapy for me. Even the music style have the words "DEPRESSIVE" and "SUICIDE" and the lyrics is about self destruction of yourself, it does the totaly oposite for me. It gives me strenght to fight my bad feelings and makes me feel powerful. Just the atmosphere in this track make me feel superior and immortal. I am the God over my own life and I'm the only one who can do something about it! Music is life fuel for me!
