25 years ago today the Exxon Valdez ran aground in Prince William Sound Alaska, spilling eleven million gallons of crude oil into the waters. The disaster remained the largest offshore spill in U.S. history until April 20 2010 when the Deepwater Horizon exploded and sank 250 miles southeast of Houston. Eleven workers died in the explosion.
