In late 2004, I started something I call the "Portraits" series. Utilizing minimal props and virtually no backgrounds, I wanted to create simple images capturing the essences of the cybergirls that had become so much a part of my artwork over the years. These are the first five to date and I'm sure more will follow. This marked the beginning of a new phase in my artwork. Future projects are sure to be much different, as I'm trying to use Poser as only one of many tools to create a more abstract, objective sort of artwork.
Poser can create some extreme realism, but I wanted to go in a different direction. Using it as the first step of many tools, I hope to continue down this path to expand my vision of tickling artwork.
The first is simply Sara tied up on a bed. I wanted a look of knowing desperation on all the faces of the girls in this series, but I really liked Sara's the best here. The shot of Brett was actually lifted from a quick little "blurb pic" I did for the Credits page of my published project "Of Inhuman Bondage 2" and I cleaned it up a bit and added some shady lighting. I don't usually "re-use" things, but I really grew attached to an image that was supposed to be a "throwaway" and decided to add it to this set. The image of Jess in the stocks was actually a little more difficult than the simplicity of it appears, as I spent a lot of time getting her face and the transparency of her skimpy outfit just right. For Nadya's portrait, I wanted something sexy yet with an air of veiled evil. The last one is in reality a failed project of another sort. I was going to include it in the rough draft of a future project, but so liked the shading and overall "hopeless" look that I made it a Portrait.
