.....kind of an extention of the "whats on your CD player?" thread. Can you name a single track in your collection that gives you goose bumps? I think we all have one of those tracks dont we? so lets see what you can come up with, and try and say a few words as to why.
My offering is a track called "I do it for your love" played by Bill Evans at "L,espace" Cardin,Paris, 1979. Evans died very shortly after this recording, and had been ill for a long time as a result of a life time of drug addiction,(hey big suprise for you rock fans! yes its true! you did not invent drugs!!) but although knowing this background adds a little to the appreciation of this track it is not in any way morbid or funerial. To me it seems to have a mystical quality to it, a kind of aura, as if he knew the end was not far away and this track was his last chance to get across what he was about. It is also the culmination of a life times work and dedication to his instrument, a wonderfull example of someone who has slaved away at his craft and constantly developed his style, never sold out for easy bucks.
The result of this sweat and toil is here for us all to hear in this deeply moving, shimmering, testament.
