Hello everyone!
I'm afraid I don't have a new video available just yet, but I do have a rather important piece of news to communicate. Indeed, The Last Laugh's videos are now available on DVD! It had taken me a lot of research, learning time and production work to get it all done, but it was worth it.
That's actually the main reason why I haven't been able to release videos more often these last few months. The DVD production process has been very time-consuming. Now that it's done I can start working on new videos again. As it happens, I have a lot of unreleased material in reserve and I should be able to release new videos more often than before.
If you decide to order a DVD, I strongly recommend that you check out the "DVD/VHS/CD-ROM" section of my website first (www.thelastlaughinc.com). Just follow the appropriate link in the site's menu on the left. I'm quite confident my DVDs will work just fine in the majority of reasonably recent players, say those made in 2001 or later, and even if there's a problem I'll do my best to find a solution. However, there are a few technical issues to consider when using DVD-Rs (or DVD+Rs, for that matter), which I explain in more detail on my website. Also, while it's entirely possible to play my DVDs in a computer DVD drive when using the right software, it's not really their intended use. I recommend using them in regular TV DVD players. More about that in the "DVD/VHS/CD-ROM" section of my website.
By the way, having DVDs doesn't mean I'm dropping the other formats. My videos are still available on VHS and CD-ROM. I should also mention that the DVDs and VHS tapes are all NTSC, which is the American video standard (as well as that of other countries, like Canada and Japan, for instance). I'm sorry to say I don't have any PAL versions (PAL being a video standard more common in Europe). That's part of the reason why I'm keeping the CD-ROM format, which can be played by anyone who has a computer. On the plus side, the DVDs aren't limited to any specific region, so if you have a NTSC-compatible DVD player, it should play them no matter where you live.
I don't know if many people would be interested, but if you already own some of my videos on VHS or CD-ROM and would like to have them on DVD instead, maybe we can make some kind of deal. I don't have any official rules for such a transaction, but just contact me and I'll see what I can do. As long as you understand that I can't do it for free. I can offer you a special discount, but you'd still have to buy the DVDs.
If I may, I'd like to bring up a couple of unrelated issues. First, while it might not look like it at first glance, I just made a lot of little changes on my web pages. It's entirely possible I made some mistakes. If you notice any, I would appreciate if you could let me know. Thank you.
I have an unusual request. If anyone knows where and how I can get a Greek alphabet plastic stencil, please contact me. It would be very useful for identifying my DVDs, since using printed paper labels on burned DVDs is risky, as they can make them unstable. I have to use a sharpie instead, and a stencil would help me do a slightly more attractive job. A Greek alphabet one would be ideal because of the Greek letter system I use for naming my videos. I'd only have to draw one character on each DVD. Another option would be to cut out my own stencil using something like a Greek letter stencil-like computer font as a model. But I can't find such a font. Whether it's an actual stencil or a font, I would be very grateful for any help.
If you have any questions or comments, don't hesitate to write me at [email protected]. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this post.
