Has anyone seen it?

Would you give it on a scale of 1-10?

Going to see it tonight at 8pm (UK time) - will post when i get home!

:cry1: can't wait to see it, but the goddamn theatre doen't start playing it until wendnesday (then again i do live in northern vermont)
but i just have to wonder what on earth makes them think that this si a good idea.

All i can say is WOW! it is a complete masterpeice from start to end!!!

It was great but........

I think it was a great film, I loved every second of it, the battle scenes, special effects, the way that everyone was tempted by the power of the ring, it was awsome!

However at the very end of the film, the reactions of everyone else watching was like "What the" "Huh?" "What a load of", this was only due to they way it ended, I gather that no one (maybe a few) watching the film even knew of the book trilogy so they were very shocked at the way it ended.

I think I was the only one there who liked it from start to finish, the rest just liked it from start to middle, but in my view it was one of the greatest films ive ever seen, ill give it a 9-10 😀

For those of you who have seen it and play video games, has any one noticed that the guy in green with the bow and arrows kind of looked and acted a little like LINK from The legend of Zelda, he was my favourite character in the movie.

LOTR Spoiler!! (dont read if you havent seen or read - fellowship!

SPOILER!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, the movie did end tragically - boromir dying - gandalfs falling into the pit in Moria! aslwell as frodo leaving the fellowship - and pippin and merry being kidnapped!

but it was supposed to end that way . they couldnt change the plot of the book... that was the prob - they had to follow the books plot entirly.

Legoles - (the one in green with the bow 🙂) was very cool in the movie. orlando bloom (the actor) was incredible as the legolas. the way he stoo, the way he moved and fought - excelent.

the idea is, link )from zelda) was designed to look like an elf! that was the cool thin about zelda! 🙂

What a movie!😀 😀 😀

I tried to see it three times, and they were all sold out!:wow:
....must be pretty good....😛

Absolutely Awesome!

One that I will see again. Great casting. Terrific special effects.
A script that was a great interpretation of the story that Tolkien
wrote ! Can;t wait for parts 2 and 3.

good is an understatement -- in fact... anything is an understatment! 🙂 🙂 🙂

just bought this book called "Bored of the rings" its a comedy paredy of the trilogy. it was written by ppl who really like the real books so its not a rip off. really funny actually!

Yea

The ending was a tad confusing, but it just makes the wait for part 2 more unbearable!!! 😎

Bored of the rings

Well thats 4 hours of my life I will never have again. I thought it was little more than an excruciatingly long version of the Micheal Jackson "Thriller" pop video, but towards the end it threatened to turn in to "Deliverance" I was expecting banjo music at any moment. Also the very loud banging and crashing bits of the sound track( wich served to wake me up every 20 minutes or so) seem to be familliar, is it some kind of off the shelf noise that they buy in? I am sure i have heard the same noise in all Bruce Willis films.

Aw, red, it wasn't so bad.

It wasn't fully the Fellowship of the Ring, but fortunately, the film company 'fessed up t'that, ahead of time. No Tom Bombadill. Changes in some scenes. Still, I dug the movie, and will see it again.

Awww, methinks Red's date must have given him a hug instead of a kiss at the end of the movie. Either that or he needs a nap! ((Have I found a flaw in Red's character at last?))😉

I saw it last night. Enjoyed it completely I must say. So much even that I've dusted off the box and am re-reading the books.Currently, THE HOBBIT page 44. 🙂 I liked the fact that Bilbo's house looked exactly as I thought it should. That settled me in for the rest of the flick. Now, I was a bit squeamish in parts, but that impresses me as well. As a newbie to archery, I was also watching Legolas closely. Ahhh, to have that aim and speed. hehe Anyway, I'll likely see it again. Can't wait till the next one.

seein it tommorow

hey i'm seein it tommorow, i haven't read any of the books or anything will i understand the movie? is it easy to follow? guess we'll see.

I heard tommytickler that they made the movie so that anybody could understand and like it. 🙂

Well, I fianlly got to see this film.

It was the best thing I've seen on the screen since Star Wars. It was true to the book, but stood on it's own as well. I actually felt like I was IN Middle-Earth. The effects were superb without being overpowering. The sound effects of the ringWraiths and their Horses were bone-chilling, as was the scene where Galadriel shows Frodo what would happen if she took the Ring.

Elijah Wood played Frodo to perfection as the anti-hero, someone who didn't want the job, but accepted it anyway.

The only problem I had with it was that the scenes in Rivendell and Lothlorien could have been longer. A lot happened in Lothlorien that brough Gimli the Dwarf (underused in this film, sadly) and Legolas the Elf together.

Legolas was fantastic! The scenes of him "rapid-firing" his bow were perfect, and I got quite a kick out of seeing him walk on top of the snow in the mountain pass as the rest of the Fellowship trudged through it up to thier waists.

The cave-troll scene in Moria was great, the cramped quarters giving you a real feel for the size and power of the beast. The Balrog was simply magnificent.

I was pleasantly surprised at Liv Tyler's portrayal of Arwyn, I thought she'd be too "teeny-bopper" for the role, but did quite a good job.

Christopher Lee as Sauraman was a perfect choice. He was terrific in the role of the betraying Wizard, and the fight between him and Gandalf was something I didn't expect to be so intense.

All in all, I'd say it's well worth the time to see it on the big screen. I can't wait to see "The Two Towers", escpecially if the Ent battle scenes are anywhere near as good as the ones in this film.

*bows to Dave2112's superior review*

I wanna be you when and if I grow up. I so dig the way you describe things!

DVNC, I thought the same thing about the ommision of Tom Bombadil and the Barrow-Wights. But then again, in the context of the film, it was probably the most sensible thing to leave out.

There is a bok called "The Adventures of Tom Bombadil" that you might like. Check your bookstore.😎

<g> I remember readin' that book some time ago. Was amusin', but nowhere near the trilogy. Even Two Towers was more engagin', and I'm STILL wonderin' how they'll get a full movie out of it, other than realtime Ent strolling.

I'm still bugged by the barrow wights' omission, 'cause it was dark, spooky and appropriate, but I can dig the contextual difficulty. Bombadil just didn't fit the movie, so it's sad, but not inexplicable.

And you still rock for the best description, yet.

Peace,

dvnc

I think that Merry and Pippin will have much larger roles in "Two Towers", plus, as you mentioned, there's the potential for a lot of Ent scenes. There is also Gandalf's time "away", which could be shown in the film. I look forward to it.

Thanks for your kind words about my....words.😀

More unkind words....

I have expressed my resevations about this film to the people I went to see it with and their response generally was that i had not read the books and was therefore at a disadvantage when it came to criticising the film. I reject this view completely, I went to see a piece of cinema and the film should be able to stand up on its own and be judged asa piece of cinema only.

I felt the film failed for me because I was not the least concerned about any of the characters becuase there were so many of them and none was given enough time to establish themselves so the fact that one or more of them was speared or hacked to death had no effect as I really did not care one way or the other.

I also felt the film lacked a story line of any integraty, it was just too confusing to hold my attention, it lacked that "wow what happens next" feeling for me, I think maybe the film had too much story line to be succsessfull, some of the best films have almost no plot or only enough to do the trick.
