For once a Japanese film comes to the US before it's actually released in its home country.Machine Girl hit dvd before going to Japan. Already considered a cult success writer/director Noboru Iguchi delivers the goods and the gore with this fun cheesy action-horror flick. Continuing the recent grindhouse trend, the film offers gratuitous gore, ridiculous characters and lots of over-the-top scenes.

We follow a young girl who loses the remaining member of her family to the son of a yakuza boss and his group of lackeys. Seeking vengeance the girl attempts to track down the bully and gets her arm cut off in the process. She somehow escapes death and makes her way to a car shop where she is given aid by the mother and father of the friend who was also killed by the same thugs. They eventually construct a machine gun to replace her missing arm, and send her off to finish what the ninja-clan-turned-yakuza-family started. Action-horror flick.

Traditionally Japanese live action movies have been horrible. They make great anime but something about the live action stuff makes me cringe. I might have to check this out though. Occasionally you get a good one, like Versus.

I'll have to check out Versus as well. I hear it's a great film.

Way too many horror movies that i have to check out and watch! :laughing:
