Again I know this is a matter of opinion, but..

As anyone who was able to see the moon last night is aware, we had a big, beautiful full moon last night. I have an eastern exposure in my apartment, and was up early this morning, so I saw the full moon's descent out of the sky, and it turn a beautiful shade of orange. Truly a breathtaking sight.

While I know that all moons can have their "beauty", it just seems to me that the full moon is the most picturesque. We cant even see New Moons. Crescent Moons seem.. blah. Half moons almost look like half light ,half dark, The Big Full Moon, even though we can only see it 2 or 3 days a month, and only if its clear or not cloud obscured, seems the most beautiful sight of all the moons we see.

Thoughts on the full moon?

dunno... just makes me all hairy and I itch like hell until I have a bowl of Alpo

God... damn... it... C.A.B.

I wanted to make that joke. Hate you forever now.

One of the joys in life is the sight of a full Moon on a crisp autumn night, but our nearest celestial neighbor is always a fascinating sight to me. Many years after the fact, thinking about the men who set foot on this tiny speck in the universe still astounds me, and I watched it happen live on TV.

I was thinking.., okayyy I did it. Until Bugman saved me. Thanks, pal.

You mentioned men setting foot on the tiny speck, and you watched it. My late grandfather. God rest his soul, who was very into space and science, was 60 years old when that happened, and told me that watching the men walk on the moon, was easily the greatest scientific happening of his life. I'm sorry that I've only been able to see it in historical footage. My mom, rest her, was two months pregnant with me at the time the men took their walk on the moon.

You know the amazing part?

It's entirely possible that within my lifetime that commercial trips to the moon may become a reality.

If we can get past this political loop we're stuck in, then it may even be a reality for some of your older chaps. 😉

Sure, only the richest of the rich will be able to go at first, but as technology advances, and alternative fuel is discovered, it'll become viable for the rest of us.

C.A.B. may get hairy,.. but a full moon gets me stoked in ways attendant to the whole TMF weltanschauung. We could still have howling in common, however.

Bothersome, maybe in your lifetime, buddy, but I doubt in mine, being the old man of 43 that I am.

LOL Pied.

Oh, you never know.

By the time you're 70, the average life expectancy of a human could be well over a hundred. 😉

Who wants to live to be over 100 years-old, realistically? How many times can you look at the moon and say, "Yes! This is fascinating!"

If you are adventurous, then why not... But, can you imagine being 150 years-old, and walking/hiking to see the moon from a different point-of-view?

I gave a nickname to a friend of mine: "Grandma". She is only two years older then me(32), so I guess that makes you, "Great-Great Grandpa," I think... :jester:

I always mock older people, so I can maintain some sense of "false youth." 😛

Pfft. Shit, I can barely imagine being 30.

If I'm not completely insane by the time I'm in my triple digits, I'll call it a miracle.

Bothersome, that would be good if people could live to be 100, but I only want to live as long as I'm healthy. If healthy, give me 100. If not, I hope I go at 75.

Who knows, with modern science being the way it is, maybe someday people will be living on the moon permanently, or have the ability to stay there for long periods of time.

Anyhow, the full moon is gone now until next month. I missed it this morning. Went to bed really late last night, and slept right through the early morning view lol. Now I have to wait another month to see it.

The Moon was really bright around here last night. Remember that Easter falls on the first Sunday after the full moon in March, that is why we have Easter falling in March of this year.

The full moon gives the most light and is the biggest, so naturally people like it the most. 😀

carl, I'm embarassed to admit, that I either did not know, or did not remember, what you just told me, about Easter falling on the first Sunday after the full moon in March.

mils, yes, that makes sense.
