Scanned this article from the Febuary 17th issue of the New York Post, talking about the next big project for warner brothers.....and theres something just...wrong about it.....take a look for yourself, read the article and see what YOU think....

I've always been a traditionalist when it came to cartoons and animation and I feel some things should just remain untouched by current trends....frozen in time for future generations.....thats just my opinion....

I too saw it, albeit on the web......What, the old ones aren't good enough?.....Oh, sorry, I remember now, they were too violent. Bugs, Daffy, Porky, Tweety & Sylvester, Road Runner & Coyote........ Yes we need a change.......of artists & writers.

They have lost their damn mind! There's no way I'm going to watch that crap! Original always has and alway will be better!! Fans are going to be piss if they change their look!

I agree too, i don't like this new look, isn't frienly.

I agree with being a tradtionalist about cartoons. It all started when they had Tom and Jerry and also the Pink Panther talk. Its enought to make you be an adult in your thinking about something that should not be thought about in that much.

Hmmm....The original characters are still popular....bring in lots of money from items sold...plus sales of vintage DVD and VHS offering of the classics we all grew up on on Saterday morning....

Yeah, sure, let's destroy one of the few cash cows at Warner Brothers for the sake of being modern. It worked sooo well for New Coke....

Just when I thought the people at Hollywierd couldn't underestimate all of us in 'Flyover' country any more.....they prove me wrong once again. No wonder my son asks why they don't have on good cartoons like Mom and Dad used to watch....

Eek, that Bugs Bunny looks like some kind of X-men mutant death rabbit  The new look is hideous, and should be abandoned 🙂

This is just the same as what they did with Teen Titans. For those of you that know better, Teen Titans is a DC comic of the same name. The new Teen Titans, the ones we're more fimiliar with, are almost nothing like the originals.

I saw this Looney Toons thing on the 10' O clock news. I don't think this is necessary, but I do agree, in part, with some of the things that were said in that article. What children think is funny isn't the same anymore. With a heavier influence coming from japanimation, more western cartoons are taking a dive and selling out. I don't agree with it, because we have enough anime as it is, and we need to maintain the cutlural values and integrities of our shows and cartoons, but theres nothing we can do about this. The children are already hooked on this changing, more modern trend (the Power Puff Girls are an example of the slow, seemingly innocent and cute metamorphasis of this insidious take-over).

From what the article says, this takes place in the future and isn't meant to overshadow, overthrow, or destroy the personas, personalities, mannerisms, appearances and pleasant memories of these original Looney Tunes characters. Its meant to be taken as an addition to the series. Looney Tunes will always be popular for what it was and is. It still sells and the authenticity of the characters or the value of the merchandize they are plastered on will not go down in the foreseeable future.

I agree, these looks are pretty extreme and completely ridiculous, no matter how far into the future it is. I won't be watching the show as I'm not into cartoons anymore (with some clear exceptions- Simpsons, Family Guy, etc.), and no matter how sharp, hip or new these old characters look, its not enough to peak my interest.

The new Teen Titans isn't so bad (could be better, but isn't so bad from the several episodes I've seen) and the original had a good run and is still marketable and untouched just for the sake of the purists. In the same way, I think we should at least give this newer Toon show a chance and see what comes of it.

Looney Tunes is a trademark and cartoon show that will be around indefinitely. Its had a good run, its still available, and fans will have the memories always. Its left it's mark on western society and the world and nothing will ever change the impact it has made.

But times change and people want to try different things. If someone wants to make a different show based however closely or loosely on these characters, they have that right even if we don't agree with it (which I personally don't).

Its just telling a story a different way. This isn't the first series to be redone, and it won't be the last. I don't agree with it, but I'm not so stubborn that I won't let others enjoy it, if for some reason they do.

We'll always have the originals, and we'll always have the choice of remembering them and smiling, and simply ignoring what comes next.

Amen, Vlad!

And I would prefer that these witlings expend their minuscule talents on unrecognizably updated characters than do anything new with the glorious originals. They've tried that in several ventures and they don't have the chops for it.
Reminds me of a story I heard about the L.A. premiere of "Shakespeare in Love." After the film was shown, star Geoffrey Rush was mingling with the elite crowd that had come to see the show, shaking hands and kissing and smiling and receiving the usual empty flattery...when up steps none other than Chuck Jones! Jones clasps Rush in a heartfelt embrace, looks him in the eye, and says, "You understand timing!"
Higher praise from a greater master can hardly be imagined.

And amen to THAT as well.

yea the new looney toons or Loonetics look like street toons

One word to the writers of Looney Tunes - ORIGINALITY! Why in cosmos do we need to have Bugs Bunny look like he wants to kill someone or something?, and The Road Runner looking like he wants to be faster? THOSE PEOPLE HAVE LOST THEIR FUCKING MINDS! If they wanted to change something, then it should have been what the characters do, NOT WHAT THEY LOOKE LIKE! This 'New Age' look really is pithetic and is begging for a nose dive in popularity.

Meh... give me Bugs Bunny handcuffing Elmer Fudd to a bomb any day of the week. Though I'll be willing to give this a try.

Its interesting how people never really talk about the little things like this that they value, until they are jeoprodized in some way, directly or indirectly. This is more indirectly, as again, its in continuity to the series, its not a replacement of the original premises or characters.

I think having both versions may prove beneficial later on, even if it hurts initial sales.

There's an old saying if the wheels ain't broke don't fix it!!!!!! I know this is a new generation and all but damn kids today still watch the original looney tunes! The looney tunes do not need no make over! To me they are destroying history! What nexts giving Mickey Mouse, Scooby Doo, or Yogi Bear a new look? Man cartoons had really gone downhill! We have enough crappy cartoons! We do not need to see a new look of the looney tunes! If you want to update them update them with new episodes! Whoever came up with this crap have been watching too much Japanamation! Everything does not have to be techno or Dragonball Z like! Kids today needs to see original cartoons!

😱 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱

What the hell is that?!! That's the stupidest s**t I've ever seen! Those "new incarnations" are the suckiest crap ever to suck their way out of sucksville. Yeah...my name is stupid ass Warner Bros executive and I think I'll start the day by taking something great and ruining it for everybody..then I'll discourage everyone working under me from ever coming up with an original idea...then I'll end the day by hurting something...something furry and cute. :sharp_tee Basically these evil shmucks have taken the old addage to heart that says that if you start with something that was a hit, you're half-way there. If it wasn't for adult swim, almost all new american cartoons would suck (with all due respect to Don Bluth...wherever he is).
Irritating.

Just a side note; I remember reading some explainations about the changes in the Teen Titans universe when they made the show. There really is no excuse for the Anime-ish/Jaime Hewlitt type art style (Jaime Hewilitt is the guy who did the original british Tank Girl comic and the Gorilliaz. Check out the episode with the villain "Mad Mod", he looks like a Tank Girl character.) But as for the team itself, they omitted characters like Superboy, Wondergirl and Kid Flash because it would have been like a teenage clone of the Justice League, another of their big shows. TT was meant to be a slightly more lighthearted and whimsical superhero series dealing with teens instead of adult heroes, geared towards a slightly younger audience.....then again from the few times I've seen it I'll say Robin is just as obsessive and disturbed as Batman could ever be....LOL

I think they could've done a lot with the missing members though...especially Superboy who was always a bit less honorable and more unpredictable than his namesake, being the genetically engineered offspring of Superman and Lex Luther....it would have been cool too see Superboy and Robin butting heads and competing for leadership of the team.

As for the rest they've been pretty authentic with a lot of characters. The villains Thunder & Lightning, Dr. Light, Gizmo (even though he was originally a creepy middle aged midget, not a child genius) Wildabeast (even though they skipped past Wildabeast 1 and went with the second version) Mad Mod, Blackfire and a few others were done pretty well.

Wow.......you never realize how much of a comic dork you are until you get onto a topic like this......LOL

Damn....suprised they havent thought of "The Justice League Babies" or something retarded like that....LOL.....all the heroes living in a nursery like the Muppet Babies.....hell, they already did it with the Looney Tunes!

ROFL! You ought to draw Justice League Babies, CC...That'd be hilarious 😀

Hear hear, CC. Although I never really was a comic-book junkie myself. Its just information I know. I'm sure alot of people who are otherwise ignorant think the Teen Titans thats out now IS an original concept.

As for another character thats due to get another make-over: none other than Batman. I hear they're going to be giving him a more anime-ish look for yet another spinoff of the already overdone series. This may have already happened, but if it hasn't yet, its scheduled to.

Justice League Babies

Believe it or not, troops, DC Comics back in the 50's actually sank so low as to issue a handful of Superbaby stories involving Clark Kent as a toddler wreaking mischievous havoc in and around Smallville. As a child, I found them nauseating. If I read them now, they might actually be funny. And a baby Justice League even more so, with the whole crew in appropriately colored diapers and Aquababy occupying a large-ish fish tank in the corner of the playroom...it could work!
