... was a wonderful experience, enjoyed by all. Hosted by Josie and the Recycler in upstate NY- they proved to be not only gracious hosts and very creative and generous players (Josie doing her first ever public party demo which kicked off the evening!), but also wonderful organizers who had to juggle 25 different schedules for folks- as well as opening up their home to weirdos (by that I mean myself).
Of course this all comes as no surprise to some of you who have met them previously (as I have had the pleasure of knowing them for many, many years... recently as guests last year in CA, and always as friends- now as hosts)- The Recycler (Mr. Josie, lol) having been so active during the many stages of tickling development online, and Josie herself having one of the first tickling websites up ever.
I even climbed out of my Palace and wandered over the sand dunes to attend, much to the surprise of many. Specially when they saw a Camel tethered outside their front door. Of course I just went for the food- of which there was enough to feed the 5th division. And I've promised to repay them for the amounts I ate by building them some special apparati for their next party.
We were able to glimpse a sneak preview of Josie's new (first) video, talk in detail about events and ideas without fear of flame wars, and Josie and Recycler kept everything going at a good pace- pausing and lingering at the time we all REALLY wanted too (usually at the soles of someone!). We even cooked up a few new games, and the rules were modified and added to by everyone- some really great ideas emerged. The winner of the game in this instance would have a set amount of time alone with the still-bound victim themselves. And to my surprize, the winner of one game, even after hours of traveling the farthest to get there, and after many hours of playing, had boundless energy in which to work over [his/her] playful gasping "victim"... this person NEVER tired... I don't know where their tickling energy came from but it's amazing: I know some of you are curious as to whom I speak. I wish it was me. It aint. I was more laid back than anyone. Hangin' by the food.
However to name a name like JOEL would be rude and embarrassing, and far be it for us to do something of that ilk. 🙂
You know, what seems like a easy thing to pull off is actually one of the most difficult because you have to depend on outside influences (motels, food prep, other's schedules and sleepover needs)...and at any given time you have to be ready to switch gears and adapt- which they did seamlessly. I know from hosting our own events the energy it takes- and patience. Trying to please everyone is an impossible task, but they pulled it off. My hats off to them both. (now I'm sorry I even snitched the sliverware, but it's an old habit).
There were several wonderful victims thru out the nite, 4 ladies and one gent, and I'm sure others will detail those events: the levels were well within anyone's range- specially those who were new to the gathering or tickling scene: Recycler took extra care in preparing a set of rules so that they (firstimers) would NOT feel any pressure. All of them were very happy. So much so in fact that the party raged on until the wee hours- and then some! At one festive point, a restrained NJJen was scream laughing so loud that the Recycler had to dash acoss the darkened street to see just how far the sound carried.
He needn't have bothered, though. Once the call from Ohio came in about the sounds they were hearing from their open windows, we knew it was time to move it to a more soundproof room.
My personal favorite enjoyment about it all was the meeting of NEW minds- everyone on ONE level- talking and sharing ideas (sometimes intimate childhood remembrances), limits, desires, beginnings... the furure outlook... there were so many varying styles and ideas- from new people (first time attendees) to ancient(me). I know many had loads of questions for myself and others, and it was a pleasure to roam about talking to everyone... and made for some lasting frienships I'm sure. What stands out is that it was so friendly- anyone who was curious, intrigued, cautious about anyone else had any trepidations calmed.
I'm sorry for those of you that missed it- but I'm sure it's the first of many yet to come.
Many thanks for Josie and Recycler for their efforts and graciousness thru out this weekend- and for letting me crash for a few hours so that I wouldn't crash driving home.
