The Passing of Christopher Hitchens

My friends, a great man has just left us.

From The Daily Hitchens:

Christopher Hitchens—the incomparable critic, masterful rhetorician, fiery wit, and fearless bon vivant—died today at the age of 62. Hitchens was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in the spring of 2010, just after the publication of his memoir, Hitch-22, and began chemotherapy soon after.

The Phelps have already called for his funeral to be picketed. You really know you've had a worthy life when the Phelps want to picket your funeral.

What really sucks is that I was less than a week from meeting him and listening to his lecture. He was informed of his cancer several days before his book tour was to arrive in Houston.

Agreed with all of the above. A brilliant voice has forever left us and he will be missed, however we will remain forever fortunate that we can still hear him though his works and videos.
