The scariest / most disconcerting thing you've ever seen on tv or in a movie?

OK, so Jaws isn't exactly the scariest movie out there, but. . .Having your mom and dad take the family out for a movie night and going to see it in the theatre at 6, yeah that's how old I was in 1975. The two scenes that freaked me out were Ben Gardner's head popping out of the boat and the scene where Quint gets eaten. I had nightmares for about a week after that and I couldn't watch those two scenes when watching the movie growing up, I'd always have to turn away or leave the room.

It wasn't until my son was about 8 and asked me about the movie and we watched it together that I was able to sit and watch those two scenes. That was 26 years after seeing the movie in the theater.

There's an episode of Little House on the Prairie titled "Sylvia" where that character gets raped. The scene where the rapist attacks, he's shown wearing an all-black outfit & this creepy-as-hell clown/harlequin mask :

That shit freaked me the fuck out when I first saw it as a little kid & to this day, I still get them shivers & chills down my spine whenever I'm somehow reminded of it.

More recently, this episode of Hoarders. It's probably going on a year since I've seen it and it was only once that I did, but every so often, this crazy lady pops into my head and it's creepy as fuck.

(wouldn't let me embed it)

but this is the most fucked up moment of the of the entire episode....

My babysitter showed me that one movie Starship Troopers when I was like 4, needless to say there was always this one scene that kept me up at night, but it's pretty tame by today's standards.

For me, it was The Outer Limits. I was like 5 or 6 when I first saw The Zanti Misfits. Scary and disturbing in a primal way.

I remember watching the first Bram Stoker's Dracula when I was three or so.

When the newly turned vampiress began walking slowly toward her dad, chanting "papa, papa, papa!"

It was the Red eyes that got me. Scared me shitless...Now, however, I dislike the sight of red eyes. Not, not because they scare me, but they have been so over-used in the movies, that they are gaudy and obnoxious to me, now.

Darth Maul is the ONLY exception.

Well I was gonna say the Night Gallery episode called "The Tiny Caterpillar" about an earwig that goes inot your ear and eats out your brains 😱 but then a week ago I saw a Justin Bieber video. :yowzers: I am still undergoing therapy. 😀

Not that it's going to put me into therapy, but I can only get my head around Darth Vader's slaughter of the Jedi younglings by telling myself that, trope-for-trope, Grimm's Fairy Tales were overall much worse.

I'm glad I never had to explain that to a minor child in my family. "Okay it is, young one. An imaginary place is Coruscant. Columbine even, this is not."

Clowns scare the hell out of maybe its cuz my babysitterforced me to watch the movie it with her now I can't go to a carnival or circus with out seeing a clown the look like demons to me and makes me want to do anexcersism on them

I was in fourth grade when a friend and I watched The Shining and I must say this particular scene scared me sooooo badly; the music, the whole tension building up just to find some creeper dressed as a dog on his knees... I wasn't able to sleep for a week or so and if i did I'd woke up in the middle of the night calling my mom (lol embarrassing). I didn't get this until I grew up and read the book, which I was actually too scared to read as well (I bought it when I turned 13 and then give it away without finishing it just to buy it again on my late teens) and then I got it. Every time I meet someone new and we are starting to hang out I'm like "have you seen The shining?" Yes/no "wanna watch it?" Haha I just can't get over it.

There's a couple. One I forgot about until Amnesiac posted it. The scene in Superman 3 where the woman gets sucked into the computer and turned into a robot. I can't even click on the youtube link at 35 years old. Others would include the tree eating the kid in Poltergeist, the same kid getting wrapped up in his own braces in Poltergeist 2...well pretty much every scene from both of those movies involving the little boy - all the worst shit seemed to happen to him. There was another movie called The Kindred which I haven't seen or really heard of since I saw it, about creepy genetic research and slimy monsters. The Gate - multiple scenes in both of those.

And as far as TV goes, Jon Pertwee, the guy who played the 3rd Doctor Who, also played another charactrer - a living scarecrow called Worzel Gummidge on British kids TV. Hands down the most terrifying creation television has ever produced.

Normal 'horror' films don't do a lot for me these days but has anyone seen Enter the void? It's all about death and what happens after based on Tibetan reincarnation beliefs. An American expat in Tokyo gets killed by police while dealing and you see his death. Through his eyes. The way it's done is really creepy!

There's also plenty of weird scenes where he's smoking DMT which is a hallucinogenic drug which releases a chemical into your brain which is only normally introduced when you are born and when you die . You see his trips through his eyes aswel. Really uncomfortable. Don't watch it high it will freak you the fuck out!
