If am I not wrong, Mamonology's use is to show the opposite characters HP and Stamina; when you are fighting, normally, you can just see the bars, with no numeric value... with Mamonology you can see the "numbers" too. And you can also see your opponent special abilities'es list, if I remember well.

The gift system was cause he wanted to have it so you could build a relationship with Honeybee, but cause he kinda left the game as is that never came to be. There's a bunch of mad hidden things he's left in the game that were later down the line, but shamefully I doubt that anything will ever come from them.
