I thought I might sleep right through it, but it turns out I awakened in time early this morning to see the "Supermoon's " descent out of the western sky. It is a beautiful sight, and they were right, it does look "bigger" than other full moons.

I may have seen it before, but it would have been a long, long time, as for thirteen years I lived in a two story building when I lived in Lancaster, and really couldn't get a good view of the moon unless I was walking outside. . I'm 21 floors up now, so it's much easier to get a view if I'm in my apartment.

Did anyone else happen to see it last night/early this morning?

Beautiful picture, Gothika. Thanks for posting it.

Supposedly, they said the Supermoon will be visible tonight also.

Thanks .... I heard that and will keep a look out for it

Yes, I saw it last night when I got home. Notably larger than usual. 😀

I wish I had actually seen it earlier. My apartment has a western exposure. While this is good for keeping the sunrise out early in the morning, it also means that I can only see the sunset, and moonset. Usually, even on a normal night, I will see about the last one or two hours of the moon being in the sky, before it sets in the west.

I hope to be able to catch a glimpse of the moon early tomorrow morning, but the forecast is for cloudy skies, so I'm not sure if I will be able to.

Raining here the way it usually does when there's an astronomical event!

"Supermoons" are said to occur only once every fourteen months. The last one was May 5, 2012. That explains why I don't remember it. It was right after my mom died, and I was living in a two story building, with a poor view of the sky, and not really paying attention, due to the circumstances in my life at the time.

The next one is scheduled for August 10, 2014. With my western exposure, I hope to catch at least a late night or early morning view of it. The pictures of the Supermoon posted throughout the web are positively breathtaking.

It didn't seem much bigger than regular moons, but it was hella bright.

Didn't catch this one, but I've seen them before so I didn't get too fussed about it. Not like it's a once in a lifetime event after all.
