I think that now all 3 of the big players are out, the best choice is still Playstation 2! I would personally buy one just for Metal Gear Solid 2!! And you also cannot forget Final Fantasy X!! I think with so many quality titles out, you cannot go wrong with Playstation 2!!

Other Opinions??? 😎

Play station pooh

I am with you all the way Kro, I have lots of mates who like being crapped on by birds, but speaking for myself (being the old timer that I am) I prefer to take them out for a drink on a first date.

Sigh...

red, red, red....you're killing me! Anyway, the reason you like PS2 so much is that it's on a Linux base....not Windows CE.

While the X-Box has the technology, I think the PS2 has the games. I don't really care how good the game works, how fun is it to play. Not to mention, I don't want to give Bill Gates any more of my money.

Little help

I'm currently on the market for a new system. I'm strongly leaning towards the PS2. Is it safe bet. Anyone want to give me feedback on this? It seems most people here like PS2 (from what I've read). Are there any thoughts on the X-Box or GameCube?

Well

You should buy Playstation2. It looks like gamecube is gonna be just like n64, so dont give in to the 200$ price tag. I am totally biased towards XboX. I say, not only do the games suck, but there are not ANY games in the future that look cool for it. And on top of that, in order to even USE the dvd feature on XboX, you have to buy a remote!! PS2 you just put a dvd in and there ya go! Also, at my local game store, they said that 4 XboX had been returned due to the hard drive crashing!! With so many awesome ps2 games already out and the promise of more, you really cant go wrong with it! Keep in mind also that it plays ps1 games as well!!

Thanks !!!

I was leaning towards the PS2. I do have allot of PS1 games and that backword compatability is nice.

Also, the GameCube, while using DVD format, they do not play DVD movies. If you get TechTV, watch Extended Play this weekend. They are doing a comparison of the 3. If you don't get it, they did an online article at http://www.techtv.com/extendedplay/story/0,23008,3361539,00.html

The Low-Down

In my humble opinion, the PS2 is the best system on the market right now. Besides games like Metal Gear Solid 2, Twisted Metal Black, Tekken Tag and many others, it is fully backwards compatible with all Playstation 1 games(answering Sole Proprietor's question). That is the best thing Sony could have done. This gives the Playstation 2 an advantage over the X-Box. While we are on this topic, let me voice a few rumors I have heard. After X-Mas, Sony will be lowering the price of the Playstation 2 to $199.99, and will release an upgrade for the system. Remember that Graphics card that was released for the 64...well, this will be somewhat similar to that. It will enhance the graphics of the PS2 high above the X-Box standards, and make loading time a thing of the past. Take note, these are just rumors I have heard.

Next in line is the Gamecube, Nintendo's new baby. I know this will be a successful system. Nintendo is Nintendo. When people think of "video games" Nintendo is one of the first things that pops into their heads. It has lovable characters that have stayed with them from the start, and its multi-player games are very, very fun and addicting. I cannot even begin to guess the amount of time me and my friends spent playing games like Goldeneye, Mario Kart, Perfect Dark, Super Smash Brothers, and Conker...or how much enjoyable time I spent playing Zelda and Extreme G. For all you people who believe that Nintendo only has games geared towards children, let me remind you that it had at least one or two Mature rated launch titles, and all the Resident Evil Titles will be re-released on the Gamecube with new gameplay and added footage. I like Nintendo, and I plan on buying a Gamecube this Christmas...but that is just me.

If I were any of you, I would not purchase an X-Box. Like Krokus, I find myself being a little biased towards the system. And, also like Krokus, I have heard complaints of Pentium 3 processor glitches in the X-Box. Microsoft should stick to computers. Out of the 40 or so launch titles, only a few look promising. Now lets look at the facts. Sony has staying power because of its good library of PS2 games and its backward compatibility with all the great PS1 games. Nintendo will always be around because of its characters and because...well, its Nintendo. X-Box on the other hand, has mediocre and less than mediocre launch titles, and no previous gaming reputation. My prediction, and hope, is that it will live a short life...and die out just as the Dreamcast did. Sorry if I yammered on and on too much, but once I started talking, I found it hard to stop.🙂

hmmmmmmmm..........yeah, the ps2 is probably the best system out there right now......however, poor people like myself can't afford new flashy systems........so, I'm gonna go buy the dreamcast.....who cares if it's discontinued, I can get one for less than a tickling video, and the library of games will keep me busy for quite awhile.......

.....I guess the point I'm getting at is that even though the new systems are out, don't forget about the ones that have came and gone........they're pretty cool........

PS2.

Yeah, Im going with PS2. It's library of games is sweet. Keep in mind Final Fantasy X is coming out soon and Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter is coming out around the release of Episode II and it looks increadible. There are also alot of other good games coming out in the next year. A Game out right now that people with PS2 should take a look at is ICO. It's a really innovative game worth taking a look at.

Everlast, you'll have fun with the Dreamcast. I had one (just sold it to a friend a couple of weeks ago. He is going to buy games on discount) its a fun system. The games will keep you occupied and there are allot of games for it. They should start becoming discount over the next six months to year.
