The Ticklish Assistant Buyer: Chapter 5
As Jill was driving home, all she could think about was mostly her soon to be, financial dliemma. She never thought, even in a million years, that she was soon about to have all the time in the world to dwell on what she was going to do next. Always being on the run, never a time where she could just stop and smell the roses. Never a time where she can actually enjoy having a social life. Even when she was in college. Never really being able to go to any parties, rarely having the chance hanging out with any of her friends. Always keeping to herself, with her nose in the books, with determination to her studies while at the same time, constantly hearing her father's loud strict voice, repeatedly reminding her about F.E.D. - "FOCUS, EDUCATION, DETERMINATION!!" "YOU'LL NEVER GET ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD WITHOUT THOSE THREE WORDS, LITTLE GIRL!!" Jill felt herself going into a trance as if her entire mind and body was soon overwhelmed with sorrow and self pitty. As tears began building up in her eyes, it made it almost impossible for her to concentrate on the road. She found it difficult not bursting out into tears as she was about to pull up in front of her apartment building. With both of her hands placed firmly on the wheel, she continued looking ahead in a foggy daze while patiently waiting for the car in front of her to pararell park. Her attention was soon detered away to a car that sat perfectly parallel to the curb right in front of her building. The more she stared at it, the more it started to look awfully famailar. She noticed the amatuer repair job to a dent on the back bumper on the driver side covered up in bondo and primer. She believed it would be to coinsidental if that was the same Navy Blue Chevy Cobalt that Jeff drove.
She slowly inched her way down the street, searching for a place to park. She loved where she lived, though at the same time, hated it considering everyday, she always had a difficullt time finding a place to park, whether if it was coming home from work or running errands. Shortly after finding a place to park, Jill got out of her car while holding a box of her belongings before proceeding down the sidewalk towards her apartment building. Upon reaching the door, she found herself having a difficult time trying to open it while at the same time, juggling with the box that she had in her hands along the weight of her purse that was hanging from her right shoulder. Not wanting to set the box down, she was determined at least getting the door slightly opened far enough to where she could manage holding it open with her right foot. She swung the door open with her foot far enough to where she could easily pass through until a strong gust of wind caused the door to quickly slam into her, causing her to loose the grip she had on the box as well as her balance. Jill quickly fell to the floor, twisting her left ankle in the process, dropping the box of her belongings causing a loud echo throughout the hallway. She quickly sat herself up crying in pain, holding her ankle as tears ran down her cheeks. The loud noise caught the attention of one of the tenants as he opened his door to investigate what the loud noise was. Looking around, he saw a young brunette women sitting next to a mess on the floor, bawling her eyes out while continuously holding her ankle. He quickly rushed over to her aid, not really knowing on what just happened.
"Ma'am!? Are you alright!?" he asked in a concerned tone of voice as Jill looked up at him, trying to get ahold of her tears. Not having much energy nor breath speaking, she just simply nodded at the middle aged man, informing him that she was in dire need of help. Figuring that she must of sprained her ankle, he knelt down beside her, helping her up by placing her left arm around his shoulders. Jill was trying to balance herself by pivoting the majority of her weight on her right leg. She definitely was having a difficult time hopping along on one leg, especially in her high heel.
"I can't walk!!" Jill said tearfully. With that, the kind middle-aged man leaned over, picking Jill up in his arms, carrying her to his apartment. Once inside, he carried her over to the sofa, carefully helping her regain her footing as he attempted to help her sit down.
"Thank you!" she said as she began letting go of his shoulders, posistioning herself firmly on the couch. As soon as Jill was comfortably seated, she reached down and removed her heels before leaning against the back rest of the sofa. She wiped away at her tears in order to get a better look at her rescuer. She noticed that the person that helped her out was actually quite attractive, considering his age. He had long broad shoulders, a muscular build, short dark hair that had a slight greyish tent on the sides along with a nice tan. She imagined that he must really take good care of himself considering that he looked close enough to be around her dad's age.
"Just sit and relax while I go and retrieve your belongings, ma'am." the man said kindly as he was walking out the door. Jill turned her attention back to her sprained ankle, gently massaging it while finding herself becoming amused on how shitty her day was turning out. She was really having a hard time imagining which part of it was the worst as she began to recollect everything that has transpired up until this point. "I don't know what was worse...Having a ton of paperwork dumped off on me! Telling my boss what I really thought of her which ended costing me my job! Or, twisting and spraining my ankle!" She thought to herself. She leaned her head back while resting her eyes for a moment until she heard the door open. She lifted her head up to see the attractive man entering the apartment while carrying in her box of belongings with her purse placed ontop. After shutting the door with his hip, he knelt down, carefully setting her belongings on the floor beside his apartment door.
"That's a lot of stuff to be carrying around, wearing high heels like that. I kinda take it that you just lost your job! Am I right?" he asked with a curious look across his face. Jill couldn't help but to look at him in a state of shock. It's like he peered inside her brain and plucked out accruate information.
"How did you...," Jill was about to ask before being cut off. "I just put two and two together. You wouldn't be moving a box full of personal items and office supplies in a crappy box while wearing a nice outfit like that at this time of day!!" "Besides, I don't think you were really crying over your sprained ankle. I think you were crying over the fact that you just lost your job!"
Jill was speechless. She couldn't believe what she had just heard as her mouth hung open. Before looking back at him, she slightly chuckled while staring at the wall, rubbing her forehead. "I told my boss that she was an inconsiderate bitch by dumping two days worth of work on my desk and expecting me to having it all completed before the end of the day." She responded feeling somewhat at ease.
"Well, bosses can be like that at times," he said while looking at her with sympathy. "Okay, all the time." Jill laughed at his remark while nodding her head in agreement. "Tell me about it. It's like they have no compassion, WHAT SO EVER!! Like, they act like people are sufficent machines that can quickly shoot progress and results out of there asses!!" "I mean come on, we are only human and we can only do so fucking much!!"
The man shook his head, laughing while agreeing with the young women as he stroked his neatly trimmed beard. "How's your ankle?" he asked while walking towards her. "It hurts only if I move it," Jill responded while caressing her ankle. She looked up at him and smiled as he began examining her ankle with gentle care. She felt a slight relief of pain as his right hand grasped tightly around her ankle while propping her foot ontop of his knee. Jill felt at ease with the care that she was receiving from this perfectly kind stranger that she had never even met, nor seen before since she lived in the building. The pain quickly returned as he let go of her ankle, carefully lowering her leg down before getting up and making his way to his bedroom. Jill gasped as the pain shot up her leg, causing her to slightly clutch down at the sofa's cushions, hoping it would deter her mind away from the extrushionating sensation that she was feeling. She looked up from the floor almost in tears only to see the kind man walking back towards her carrying what looked to be a rolled up bandage while continuing to have the cushions in her tight grasp. The man knelt back down posistioning himself in front of her legs as he began to prop her left foot ontop of his knee again. Holding one end of the wrap near the arch of her foot with one hand, he began running the bandage across her foot and around her heel and eventually around her ankle. Holding the other end of the bandage tightly with his left hand, he secured the bandage using two shiny metal clasps with his right. After looking over his wrap job, making sure the clasps would hold, he gently lowered her leg back down to the floor.
"Thank you so much Mr.?" Jill asked, implying that she would like to know the kind man's name.
"Wilson," the man replied. "But, you can call me Bobby." "It's nice to meet you Ms.?"
"Gibson....Jill Gibson," Jill responded, while slightly laughing as she remembered how James Bond would always introduce himself in every 007 film.
"You're welcome, Ms. Gibson!" Bobby replied in a soft caring voice while looking at her, smiling. Bobby almost couldn't get the thought out of his mind that Jill's resemblance reminded him so much of his only daughter, that he had lost a few years ago at the hands of a drunk driver. Bobby soon lost himself in fond memories of his daughter, from growing up to learning how to drive, to graduating from High School. Then the memory of that dreadful night grew in the back of his mind, causing him to fight back the tears of pain and loss. Jill looked up at him in concern as she soon realized something was wrong with her new found friend. Bobby's dreadful thoughts were soon interupted as he felt a warm nurturing hand grab ahold of his. He looked down and saw Jill holding onto his hand as he was about to break down into tears. Bobby slowly sat down beside her while trying to get ahold of his emotions. He looked up at Jill and smiled while holding onto Jill's hand firmly.
"I was just thinking that you have the same resemblance of my daughter," Bobby chokingly muttered. "She passed away a few years ago. She was killed coming home from a friends house late at night by a drunk driver. Never thought I would be the one responding to a call involving your own child." Jill's eyes were soon overwhelmed with tears upon hearing about such a tragic loss. She didn't even know what to say let alone on how to respond. She just sat there, holding Bobby's hand tighter, looking at him as tears fell across her face.
"She was an honor student, graduated at the top of her class. She eventually started going to college a year ago. She was afraid at failing," Bobby tearfully replied. "All I told her was, just do your best, just do your best." With that, Jill began breaking down into tears as she was reminded on how much she resented her father for not having more of a loving manner towards her and being supportive of her. Instead, she delt with him barking orders and belittling her as if she was one of his soldiers in the Marines. Jill tried pulling herself together as she felt Bobby's arm wrap around her, pulling her closer to him, comforting her.
"I lost my mother when I was a child due to cancer and over the years, my dad became angry at the world. He became angry and blamed God for taking his wife and our mother away from us. He blamed for the doctors for not being able to do anything for her. He called them a bunch of incompetent morons with no education. After that, he was hell bent on drilling to what he referred to as F.E.D. into both my sister and I's brains," Jill tearfully explained to Bobby. "He said that he'll be damned if his daughters grow up, becoming a bunch of incompetent morons like the rest of the world." "As the years went by, my sister and I resented our father for treating us like we we're one of his soldiers in B.T." Bobby leaned over, reaching for a tissue in order to dry Jill's tears. Jill sat there as Bobby began drying her face. All she could think about was how nice and warm the feeling was being nurtured like that. A feeling she hadn't felt since her mother was alive.
"I never did get around to ask you where your apartment was located. Considering all the comotion that happened earlier," Bobby implied as he finished wiping up Jill's face. "I live up on the next floor, down the hall from here. Apt. 201 which is on the right," Jill responded with her voice still being raspy from crying. Jill's head was beginning to pound from all of her emotional break downs as well as the pain from her ankle. She leaned over, rubbing her temples in a circular motion, trying to stop the upcoming migrane. Jill was emotionally beat, she felt as if all her energy was slowly fading away from her and the only thing that sounded good to her at the moment was, to take a short nap. Bobby got up off the couch as Jill's eyes started to slowly close as if she was about to fall asleep. He motioned for her to lay down on the sofa as he posistioned her legs, stretching them out across the soft material of the cushions. Jill slowly started to drift to sleep as Bobby covered her up with a beautiful blue and purple cross patterned blanket that was hand woven by his daughter that she had made for him, for his 52nd birthday.
"Thank you.... Bobby," Jill softly whispered out to him as he leaned over to kiss her on the forehead. Just like how he used to do with his daughter after tucking her into bed when she was a little girl. Bobby slowly leaned back up while still looking down at Jill who was now sound asleep on the sofa. He slowly looked up, gazing at his daughter's Senior picture that was perfectly angled facing him, sitting on the far right end table close to where Jill's head was posistioned. He looked back at Jill, who was sleeping peacefully on the sofa as he soflty whispered out to her, "You're welcome." He then looked back at the picture of his daughter smiling beautifully at him while resting her head up with her right hand while having her her left hand professionally posistioned out in front of her. Bobby slowly reached over, picking up the picture frame as he continued to admire his daughter's beauty by caressing her face across the glass plate with his fingertips."I love you, Gracie," he muttered softly before looking up at the celiing, with tears forming in his eyes.
Angela was resting her head against Jeff's right shoulder while holding onto his arm, tightly secured with hers as they were fastly approaching Jeff's car. As they both approached the vehicle, she quickly swung around, letting go of his arm as she pulled him closer to her before passionatley kissing him. Jeff pulled her in closer to him as well as they continued to make out with each other. Angela didn't want this moment to end, she wanted it to last a lifetime. Alais, the moment eventually had to come to an end when she realized that she had no choice but to let him get back to the office. He was already running severely late heading back from lunch, but he didn't care. With his new-found confidence, he felt like he could take on the world. He didn't even care about the consequences that he surely knew he'd be facing once he got back. Hell, he didn't even want to leave but he knew in the back of his mind that he had to considering Jill was swamped with paperwork. As they continued kissing each other, Jeff eventually had to put it to an end by moving further back. Anglea watched Jeff as he was getting in the car while she was playfully giving him a pouting look, showing her disappointment that he had to go.
"I don't want you to leave," Angela replied in a pouty tone of voice. "I know, I don't want to leave either but my co-worker is back at the office swammped in paperwork," Jeff responded. "I'll come back over, possibly tomorrow evening."
"Can't you come back over tonight after work?" Angela asked while playfully caressing his arm. "I can't, I already have plans for the evening. I'll give you a call tonight when I get home, okay. Just don't go and lose you phone again," he said to her while laughing. Angela looked at him with her eyebrow crooked, playfully sticking her tounge out at him. She backed up, waving as Jeff slowly started to drive away. Angela turned around smiling, thinking to herself that she had finally met someone. She started walking back into the building until she noticed out of the corner of her eye, Jill's car parked further up the street. Letting go of the door knob, she started making her way down the sidewalk in quick spurts. "That can't be her car, she's still at work," she thought to herself. Finally after approaching the vehicle, she definitely knew for a fact that it was indeed Jill's car, noticing the differnent colored Mardi Gras beads hanging from her rearview mirror.
"She couldn't be up in the apartment, I would've passed her out in the hall!?" she said, softly talking to herself. Still looking at Jill's car in confussion, she eventually gave up trying to figure out why she was home at this time of day. Turning around, she made her way back towards the apartment building. She was still questioning herself as to why her car was there. As she walked into the building, she noticed a middle-aged man attempting to close his door while carrying a handful of trash bags. Brushing off the question as to why Jill was home, she thought to herself that she would be a kind neighbor and help the man out. "Can I help you with some of those?" Angela asked as she quickly approached the man. The man turned around and looked at her as he began loosing grip with one of the bags. "Here, let me help you with that," Angela said, insisting as she grabbed ahold of the falling bag.
"Thank you Miss. I thought I had them all. Apparently not!!" he said to her while attempting to cheer up his mood. "You're welcome, Sir," Angela responded, smiling at him. Her smile quickly faded away when she noticed the man had been recently crying, as his eyes were all red and puffy. "Are you alright Sir?" she asked with concern. "I'm fine, I was just talking to my daughter," he said in an upset voice. "Where are my manners. My name is Bobby Wilson, I just moved into the neighborhood about less than a month ago," he responded, quickly trying to change conversation. "I'm Angela, I live on the second floor down the hall. Welcome to the building!"
"Thank you, it's nice to meet a well mannered, polite young lady, such as yourself, Bobby replied, causing Angela's smile to reapper again. "You don't find much of that anymore. Kids today, I swear, most of them sure as hell don't know how to show or give any respect towards there adult piers. Majority of them turn to a life a crime and/or end up doing illegal drugs."
Angela continued smiling, not knowing how to relate to what her new acquaintance was telling her. But she understood where he was coming from. "What do you do for a living Angela?" Bobby asked as they headed towards the dumpster that was behind the building. "I am out of work at the moment."
"Oh, that's not good. It's hard for anybody to find work now a days. With the economy and all," he responded. "Don't mind me by asking, but how do you get by, living by yourself?"
"I live with a roommate and my parents are helping me out with my half of the rent. I've been looking for a job, any job......but no such luck," Angela responded, with the feeling of depression suddenly coming over her. "Well, maybe I can put in a good word for you down at the precinct working as a dispatcher," Bobby suggested while looking at Angela. "You're a police officer? Cool!!" Angela said, feeling a little more at ease. "My uncle was a police officer! Until he retired that is."
"Yep, I've been on the force going on 30 years now. I love what I do and I love knowing the satisfaction I get from the job," Bobby proudfully replied. "Would you like to come up for a cup of coffee?" Angela politely asked as she was really enjoying their conversation. "I'll have to give you a rain check on the offer.... I have company," he replied. "Maybe another time perhaps!?"
"Sure!" Angela responded, smiling at Bobby. "Well, I better get back upstairs. I have something I completely forgot about that I need to check on."
"Well, you have yourself a pleasent afternoon, Angela," Bobby said, smiling back at her.
"You do the same, Bobby," she said while getting ready to depart from her new found friendly neighbor. Angela made her way down the hall towards the stair case leading up to the 2nd floor. Before heading upstairs, she paused for a moment, deciding whether or not to look outside to see if Jill's car was still parked in the same spot it had been five minutes earlier. Thinking to herself, she thought it would still be there given the short amount of time that had passed. She started her ascent up the stairs as Bobby watched her curiously before opening the door to his apartment.
As Bobby entered his apartment, he noticed an empty couch with the blanket he had covered Jill up with, laying on the floor next to a pair of high heels that she was wearing. He looked all around at his surroundings for a brief moment until he noticed that Jill's box was still sitting where he had left it. He curiously walked towards the darkened hallway that lead to his bedroom, the spare bedroom and the bathroom. He looked down the darkened hallway for a short period before making his descent. He came upon the first door on his left that lead to the spare bedroom. He slowly opened it only to discover nothing being out of the ordinary. He closed the door before turning around, noticing the bathroom door was cracked open. Though, no lights were on. He pushed the door back only to see the faint shadow of the sink, toilet and his shower curtain before turning on the lights. Again, everything seemed to be normal. After shutting the lights off, he continued to the last door at the end of the hallway, leading to his bedroom. He saw Jill fast asleep, laying ontop of the comforter. As he walked over towards her, he lightly grabbed ahold of her right foot, shaking it slightly to get her attention. She faintly giggled as Bobby continued shaking her foot. She continued laying there, peacefully asleep. Bobby gave her foot another shake, causing Jill to let out another faint giggle. He let go of her foot only for a short moment before stroking his index finger across her nylon sole, causing her foot to twitch while letting out yet another faint giggle.
Bobby stroked her sole again, causing her faint giggles to slightly become even louder than before. Jill posistioned her head, facing the other side of the room towards the blind covered windows, trying to get back into a comfortable posistion. She began letting out more faint giggles that lasted a bit longer than before as Bobby continuously stroked his fingers back and forth, lightly across her nylon sole. Jill's faint giggles soon turned into laughter as she quickly opened her eyes, looking down at the foot of the bed, only to see Bobby tickling her foot.
"That tickles!!" Jill said softly while looking down at Bobby, giving her foot slighty long soft strokes. She continued giggling even louder as he was not letting up by caressing her nylon foot with his fingertips.
"I'd thought this would get you up," he chuckling remarked, still tickling her foot. "What are you doing in here anyways?" Bobby let up tickling her foot as Jill pushed herself up, swinging her legs over the edge of the bed with her feet barely touching the ground.
"I needed to use the bathroom and after I got out, I accidently put weight on my ankle causing myself to loose my balance. Your bed was the quickest spot I could get to, to sit down and get off my ankle. You're bed is so comfortable!!! I couldn't help but to lie down for a bit and I must of dozed off again," Jill explained as she attempted to stand up.
"Well, as long as you didn't fall and hurt yourself even more. I'll let it slide.......this time," Bobby teased as he was helping her walk out of the bedroom. He helped Jill over to the sofa as they entered the living room. "I better get home soon. Only problem is, those stairs are going to be a bitch getting up. I might need some help getting up them and to my apartment."
"You think, Sherlock!! You can barely make it over towards the couch by yourself, let alone climbing up twelve steps all the while by hobbling down the hall by yourself......idgit!!" Bobby said, playfully mocking her while at the same time, being serious. Jill looked up at him, laughing at his remark. "You make me laugh!! You surely have put me in a better mood than what I was before. And thank you for being so kind and taking care of me. I don't know how to even repay you for your kindness!?" Jill responded while slipping her foot into her right heel.
"Don't mention it..... Anytime," he said as Jill struggled trying to slide her left foot into her heel. The wrap was making it difficult for her to put on. She eventually gave up, deciding it was best not to wear her heels. "Don't worry about your box, I'll bring it up to you after we get you home and settled in."
"Thank you, but I'm in no rush for it and besides, I'm sure we'll be seeing each other again shortly," she replied as Bobby helped her to her feet while holding onto her heels with her fingertips.
"I'm sure we will," he chuckled as they slowly made there way towards the door.
