The Twelfth Doctor is reveled!!

This is slightly old news but the new actor to play the twelfth incarnation of The Doctor on Doctor Who has been revealed and its, Peter Capaldi! I don't really know him well but I do remember his role in a previous episode and Torchwood: Children of Earth and I wanted to know what the other Whovians think of this choice? Personally, I don't know him very well but he looks like he could be good and also I'm personally a bit happier they went with an older gent this time around.

He seems to be a more imposing actor than the last 3 Doctors. My guess is that the whimsy is going to be turned down a notch during his tenure. It could be a nice change of pace to have a sterner portrayal. I think the show is at it's best when it turns to darker material and exposes the Doctor's pathos . I also wonder how this selection is going to effect the younger fan base- I don't envision Peter Capaldi posters outselling Tennant and Smith at the local Hot Topic.
