I just got back from the midnight showing, and I can't recommend this movie highly enough. There are a couple of mildly corny moments, and that's the harshest criticism I can think of. I never imagined that the book could be transformed into a 3 hour movie in such amazing fashion.

Go see it! Go!! Go NOW!!! 😀

It's worth seeing again just for Gollum! 😉

"...and one Moses to fool them all."

3 hours, eh? I'm glad to hear that. Was most upset that they didn't treat "Fellowship" like the epic that it is, until, of course, I saw the recently extended version...

I can understand their motivation, though. New movie...aren't really sure how the public is going to react...must keep it at a killer pace to ensure that the attention span of our McDonald's driven, Niketown society does not wane.

In terms of these epics, however, I say the longer the better, n'est pas? Will be looking forward to those three hours, Asu, and thanx for the update.🙂

Who knows? When "Two Towers" is released on DVD, they might extend it again...5 hours of LOTR...woohoo!!

Cheers.😀

Will you be my friend?

Look, look!! Two threads, and posts, in a row!!

Mommy says I'm smart.

Cheers.😀

rocked my world, baby! One problem... what was with making the Orcs into cockney boot-blacks? I really couldn't take them seriously when they sound like pantomime chimney sweeps. I say guv'nor, how's about me and the lads nick down the shops for a luverly bit of man-flesh for tea eh?

Anyone else spot Peter Jackson in chainmail on the battlements of Helm's Deep, throwing rocks at the invading army? Very nice touch 😉

we saw it the 2nd day it was out

great movie! i didn't like the way they made the orcs look either, why the change? they shouldn't have changed the battle of helms deep so much either, but still was a hell of a 2hr50min. ride!

We dug it, too, but I was trippin' at how there was stuff left out, and the battle was changed. Tripped me, but the movie carried well, and the story's basis seems tight, still, so I'm holdin' out for the proper resolution.

That, and the DVD version's inevitable extended version. I'll take another hour, thanks. 😉

Ahhh....it was good.

Finally got to the theater sans kid tonight to see what the fuss was all about. I couldn't take my eyes of Gollum. Amazing hwo they do that stuff. I was also a bit keen on the belief factor. Good acting makes all the difference in an epic.

Joby...who can't stop saying My Preciousssssssssssssssss...My Preciousssss....giggle

:bowing: Ohhhhhhhhhhh mannnn....

That movie was sooooooooooooo GOOD. And I agree that Gollum was f*cking awesome! I wonder though, can they award a CG character as best supporting actor? :bowing:

My main problem was that they made Gimli, the dwarf into the comic relief and not to mention the fact that i dispise elves so thats another reason i didnt like it(except when they were gettin slaughted, he-he-he)

It also lacked from the first one because the first one was a complete story in its own, it intro'd the characters and had a good stort, honestly the movie coulda ended with the first one thats how good it was. This movie was a made to be continued movie as you could tell.

My fave part tho was the scenes with the Treefolk. I always remembered in Magic the gathering card game i would use a lot of Treefolk and everyone always told me "Treefolk suck"...hehe...so needless to say after this movie i went off on em sayin "WHO SUCKS NOW HUH??!!"

3 hours did leave me agitated at times, and im told the final movie, return of the king, may even pass 3 hours, elijah wood was quoted as sayin "It will be as long as it needs to be" so i best get my ass groove in a chair ready. I just cant wait for the final mass battle scene

BRING MORE DWARVES!

the tree folk did a credible job...

...kicking a few orc butts, and recking the one tower complex, but they were lame as yesterdays cereal.
elves, on the other hand took names, and kicked butt royally through out! oh btw, in the book, the elves weren't at the battle of helms deep, to be slaughtered. it was strictly human vs. orc.

Do you think that it was as good as Lord of The Rings?

I've wanting to go see this, but haven't yet. I wanted to know if this was as good as Lord of The Rings or not? I saw that movie and really liked it.🙂

i liked the two towers even more than the fellowship of the ring.
i wouldn't have thought it possible...untill i saw it.

D'you mean the live-action "Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Rings" made so recently? Yes, it's the followup to that. It's a good second movie, based on a second novel in a trilogy. I liked that novel least of the three, though, so I'm a mite biased. Clearly, they built it up a bunch, and did their own focus.

Still beats that awful animated version done by Ralphi Bakshi. What a choke.

I'm STILL wishin' that the Ent's were better treated in that. Much of the character development was cut.

The 3rd one will HAVE to be a whopper if The Two Towers can run full length. Thing is, there ain't many of us that wouldn't find a way to stay, y'know? I'd watch a 4 hour one, and pray for an intermission.

Just waitin' now for the DVD, since the DVD for the first one was so bitchin'...

Heh, two towers dvd will have prob 42 hours of bonus footage now compared to the first lotr's 9 hours

We just came back from seeing "Two Towers":

AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What amazes me is that they managed to change parts and remove parts and NOT offend me, or anyone I know that read the books, so far. They also enticed millions of folks that never read the books. My kid's lookin' t'read 'em now, 'cause he's interested in why I say the books are even better, and what I mean when I tell him that there are changes, and that the book's as good as the movie, if not better.

Can't wait for the DVD, and for the later Return of the King movie. *sigh*

I'm one of those millions. My brother read them all repeatedly. But, I never did. I'm seriously considering doing so now. I loved both movies, though the second moreso.
