Note: I don't have classical grapheme or lexical synesthesia, but I am either a non-classical synesthete or my brain works in some other inconsistent way where sensory cross-activation still occurs. I get bleed over from different senses under certain circumstances, including auditory-color, touch-color, temperature-color, etc. Color is involved in most of them, but sometimes other senses apply like touch-auditory experiences. It's not clear exactly why these happen, especially since there is some inconsistency between them sometimes, but I thought I'd throw in this info as context.
- Tickle, the word is a rich yellow to me. The word tickling is closer to a bright orange.
- The subject or concept of tickling (not the word) is purple.
- The sensations and emotions when being tickled are not a single color experience, but more like a symphony of colors that kind of feel like temperature-like colors, if that makes sense. I haven't mapped these out or anything, but like blues being low or no tickling, and reds being more intense sensations, as examples. Sometimes at high intensities, I get various auditory things going on as well.
- In the act of tickling someone else, the sounds of their laughter often has that same symphony of color effect, but sometimes that mixes with colors I sometimes get from my mood or emotions in the moment.
I don't know if that makes any sense. I usually don't talk about it because I don't really have a clear understanding or even the language to fully describe what I'm experiencing. But I figure if it's going to relate to any forum post, this is the one!
Anyway, great question and interesting answers
🙂
