I have several boxes full of old Texas Monthly magazines (dating back to the 1980's in some cases) that are falling apart and missing pages, and I've not looked at them in years but I can't bring myself to throw them out. :idunno:

i have that problem with some things as well .. i have things i been holding on to since i was a kid other things i have had no problem tossing

There are clothes in my closet that I haven't worn in ten years but I can't seem to toss them in the trash. 😱

I'm with this guy. I have many shirts that I have worn maybe once or twice. I could probably survive with eliminating half of the clothes I own. Earlier this year, I took about 15 shirts that I wore to work and put them in a yard sale at a relative's house. I should have kept going.

I use to be horrible about that since I never felt I had time to read all the articles I wanted to but never went back to read them. I held onto magazines for years. After awhile I said F it and I just chucked near everything I had. My home has too much stuff. I'm at the point that I would rather have space than stuff.

Same here, but I still wear them at home. Most of them would likely be rejected by a rag picker. 😱

It's not exactly a material thing but I've been sick for like a month and a half and can't seem to get rid of it. I woke today and was amazed at how lousy I still feel, it's crazy. :illogical

you need more metal in your life 😛

I have this awesome couch from the 70's that used to belong to my dad. It has this plaid fabric that is so cool. The thing is a dust trap and smells funny, but I can't bring myself to give the thing up

^This^

I live in a small two family dwelling and it's getting a bit crowded. I moved here 7 years ago and had a purging before I moved here. I desparately need to purge again, especially in my bedroom. But I come from a long line of packrats and borderline horders and I honestly don't even know where to begin.

I'm determined 2013 to be the year of decluttering.......now only to get started.......:lalala:

I personally love vintage magazines dating from the late 70's to early 80's so I'd be the worst person to consult with you on that lol.

I need a new computer desk. I have needed a new one for more than a few years but I love the design of this desk. No matter how hard I look, I just can't seem to find one that lives up to the awesomeness of my crappy particle board piece of crap desk.

I recently moved back home after splitting with my boyfriend and went from having a full house to store my things in to one tiny room. Recently did a massive clean out and got rid of 8 garbage bags of books, shoes, clothes, handbags and other bits and pieces and took them to the local charity yet I still have no space in my room!! I can't stand to part with most of what I have left even though I know I need to!!

A lot of my Dad's t-shirts. Mom says I should keep one or two and that we should donate the rest, but I can't bring myself to let them go. Since he passed I've gotten so clingy to anything he ever touched.

That's so very normal and your way of grieving / coping - in time - you may find it acceptable to donate an item or two here and there

I definitely feel your pain! I have packrattish tendencies myself.

That's always the hardest part!

Brandi, I think I know exactly what you're going through. I remember how it was when my own father passed.
