this Friday, the world becomes dumber

Hopefully, that movie will not last long at the box office. It looks terrible. I wont be seeing it, and I see a lot of movies.

you know people will see it, mostly kids who think poop jokes are still hilarious. and you know people will flock to see it, because movies like that make bank even though people KNOW they'll want to kill themselves after.

The thing about "Dumb and Dumber", that was actually a very funny movie. We saw some of "Epic Movie" and "Meet the Spartans" and they were so awful, we shut them off about 15 minutes in.

Those movies are only concerned on spoofing recent pop culture people and events, that gets tiring after about 23 seconds.

Look at the cast of characters from "Disaster Movie":

Indiana Jones....check
Amy Winehouse....check
Hannah Montana......check
Hilliary Clinton.....check
Jessica Simpson.....check

It's a satire. Satire has always been a part of drama.

This one, and the ones preceding it (Epic Movie, Scary Movie, Superhero Movie, etc.) are just poorly done. Not so much poking fun at as much as parroting the source material.

Will I see it? No. Will I hit anyone for seeing it? No.

Becomes dumber? man the whole movie industry has been feeding us bullshit movies that gross 100+ mill because the masses have no sense of taste what so ever when it comes to good film... or the intelligence to care.
 
The problem is twofold...at least.

1. Many of those making this crap think that everyone in the nation is not just ignorant, but stupid and will enjoy tasteless "humor". (Meet the Spartans was one bad gay joke after another.)

2. There is just enough truth to #1 that they make money. So, they keep doing it ad nauseum.

There have been few well done movies in recent years. Most of those made a ton of money. You'd think they'd learn, eventually, that we actually WANT to see something that requires a brain. Perhaps it's the lack of brains on their part that keeps them stuck in the rut.

But this satire is popular media satire. It has little lasting value

I always use the movie airplane as the perfect satire movie. After 20 years, ITS STILL hilariously funny. It doesn't really date itself and you dont need to know the current events really of the time to get the jokes

With this satire crap, you need to have prior knowledge of the last indiana jones movie, wanted, juno, etc etc to comprehend some of the jokes in it

as for the dumbness of society

Idiocracy has shown where we are heading
 
It's just a bunch of Mad TV skits put together to make one big clusterfuck. The Amy Winehouse and Juno stuff, in particular. Meh. I is indifferent.
