Those little icons on the side

Maybe this has been asked before, and I've missed it.

What do all those little icons mean on the left of the forums?? Before you click on the section you want to go to (e.g., "Tickling Discussion"), there is only a checkmark-looking thingy, either blue or yellow. But once you're in a section, there are dozens of variations -- mostly of envelopes 😀 There are open, closed, filled, empty, blue, yellow, orange, some with a circle in the middle, some with lines on top, etc, etc.

So, please, someone explain 😀

The terrible secret of the envelopes! (oooh!)

General:

• Gray, no lines, closed - no new posts.
• Gray, lines, closed - no new posts, but thread has more than 15 replies/ 150 views.
• Yellow, open - new posts in this thread.
• Red, open, full - new posts, and more than 15 replies/ 150 views.

Additional:

• Padlock - closed thread, no posting allowed.
• Black dot in the center - YOU have posted to this thread.

I got that dancing CF image when I was responding to a "best lines on TV" thread, and I talked about the Chris Farley Show on SNL; I simply forgot to take if off. 😀 But I like it; I think I'm gonna keep it 😛
