Thread ratings and stars....

Y'all,

What's up with all the stars? Did someone just learn how to use the feature or something? 🙄

I'm not sure about anyone else, but to me it seems like a huge waste to mark even a brand new thread with 5 stars when there isn't a 2 or 3 star "worthy" thread on the board yet.

These "ratings" are on almost every single thread on the opening page. To me, that defeats the purpose. It's like thread chasing....doesn't seem to accomplish anything. It seems like everytime something is discovered, it's overused.

Yes, I noticed the same thing.

Since the ratings don't mean much (any registered user can click on the 'Rate This Thread' box), I just ignore the rating column.

There's an upgrade of the vbulletin (version 3.0) due out soon and this might be resolved in the new version.

I ignore the ratings, too. What one thinks of a thread depends on the content, so what appeals to one user may turn off another. Just read them and post to the ones you like! 😀

Its only a few people voting for these threads (from 1-5) which gives it a rating...probably some of our newer folk who saw that it could be done...I do not read threads because of ratings...I look at almost all of them and respond to those I think I can contribute to....😉

Jobelle, I guess I am guilty of posting too much, I am sorry that I went over board. The stars thing, I have voted on those myself for Venray1 , Moses , FT , Alex , Jpie1 and the stories thread..basiclly any post that I felt was good. I didn't mean to step on any toes, I know my name was not mentioned but I know that I have posted a lot and like I said probably way more than I should have. I'm sorry Love and peace. Tracy

Tis OK Tracy, no harm done. Basically you pointed out we had the threshold for stars popping up set too low. All fixed now.

Honey, don't be silly! I am not making fun of you but hey come on! I am sure Joby was not talking about you, you have posted some funny things and hey we need laughter and humor in this day and time. So you better not stop posting! Hell, I am new here and I don't get it or understand how this thread thing works or the ratings. If the thread I read is good I give it a 5 if it sucks I get it a whatever the worst is LOL and so on.

Joby, no you didn't say that or mention any ones name. I did not mean to imply that you did, I know you were just voicing your opinion. I simply felt that I was going over board with posting so much, thats all I meant.Me being fairly new to TMF I didn't know if a person had a limit or anything like that, therefore I felt I was guilty of over posting!
