I've noticed that some forums have the thread title centered in the thread list and others have the thread titles left justified. This is a recent change. See attachments for examples.

Something broken?

Btw, left justified is easier to read.

I suspect that's a browser issue, as I see both forums left-justified. I know that when I log on using Internet Explorer rather than my usual Firefox or Safari, I see great movement in terms of layout items. The header images, for instance, are in a different place based on browser type. What browser are you using to access the forum? We didn't make any changes to the layout recently (or ever, that I recall) relating to text alignment or anything else.

Note that vBulletin makes heavy use of CSS and Javascript to align things. If you 'missed' one element, either through slow page load as CrystalLight noted, or simply a piece not processed, you might see weird behavior. Does a hard refresh (CTRL-F5 in Firefox; probably just F5 in other browsers) fix the placement?

I use IE and have not noticed any problem with alignment.

I've looked at the site in IE6 and IE8 on four different systems and they all show the same thing. If I view in Firefox the problem does not exist.

See the attached images. In the second image (which is IE), it all goes bad right around the "New Thread" button. Before that, you can see that the "Non-tickling video..." thread title is left justified as it should be. After the button placement error it's weird and text is centered in tables that follow. Anything that should be left justifed is not.

I'm not gonna make a big fuss over this but something changed somewhere. I've never seen this behavior before.

I see this behavior in these forums:
MTJ Publishing Discussion
Images
Video/Audio Clips

I am noticing the same thing. Its just happening in the video and image clips forums so far.

Then it's an Internet Explorer issue, not a forum issue.

It only happens in the video clip and image forum Not any of the other forums or sub forums at least for me. So I am not sure whose issue it is.

Is it a CSS issue? If one browser is rendering it that way in only one forum, it would seem to be. I don't know of any template changes made there. We never modify the CSS of pages; that's all on the side of vBulletin. Are you certain that this is a recent change? If so, can you let me know how recent? We did do an update to the forum on Friday; it is possible that update altered something, although I can't fathom what.

Try to be courteous, folks.

Its not a major issue to me just kind of curious as to why it just changed in only the image and video clip forums. For me the style change happens only in those two forums. All other forums are fine. I cleared out my temp file cache and refreshed the browser, still the same thing I just get the center justified format in the video and image forum.

We have multiple themes in place. Artwork and the C4S forums have specific ones, to take two examples. It may be that one theme is wonky.

It could be. I can't say for sure. I looked at the HTML source and compared code for pages that display properly and those that don't and I don't see what is causing it. But, there is stuff that you can't see from the client side since it's already been rendered by the browser. Maybe one of the forum templates got updated and it has a small code error. It's only 3 forums showing this behavior which makes it that much more weird.

Your friday update time seems to be in the right timeframe.

Ahhhhhh ok. Well it does seem to be specific to those forums and subforums. I only noticed the problem today. I usually visit those forums every day so it must have happened recently.

Server-side should have nothing to do with it aside from generating the code. The client completely controls rendering, so I find it odd that the pages are the same and yet those sections look weird. I will check some settings and see what I can find. That the Friday update may be the turnover is helpful; at least now there's a plausible explanation.

Chrome is about as secure as a colander and Opera and Safari tend to outpace it in Javascript rendering. Needs work. 😀 But, that's beside the point.

Btw, in the 3 forums where the problem is, there are no banner ads displayed. I see banner ads in all other forums. Both FF and IE do not show a banner ad.

The arguments have been removed. Resumption of it can and will result in loss of privileges for those involved. Please keep this on topic.

On the topic of the thread, I will compare the themes for the various sections. I doubt I'll hit it tonight, but I will aim for later this week. If you don't hear back from me by the weekend and feel concerned enough about it, either post here or send me a PM telling me to get off my lazy bum and do some work.

I am also getting the same effect in the subforums Kurch mentioned.....

It should be fixed now. If you still see it in any forum post where here.

The non-tickling image forum is still displaying weird.
