the clip was copied in a format called asf. for the life of me i dont know what that is. But i tried to convert it to wmv. after i succeded with the conversion, I then split it with hacha then zipped it and posted it. The regular asf. file played ok on my cpu under windows media player. so i dont see why it wont work with anyone using that program. Does anyone know a program where i can use to better convert and shrink the file? thanx and IM SORRY FOR THE MIX UP AGAIN

How exactly did you split and zip it? The filenames in the zipfile don't match a normal hatcha split. When unzipping your posts I get files named:
- taybeg0.zip.0
- taybeg1.zip.1
- taybeg2.zip.2
- taybeg3.zip.3

while this should have been something like:

- taybeg.asf.0
- taybeg.asf.1
- taybeg.asf.2
- taybeg.asf.3

When I change the names of the files into something that is recognized by hacha it joins the files to a file named:

- videorec001.zip

What was the original filename of your clip?

Well... for the first time ever I had probs while rejoining an Hached archive.

Let's recap: Asf are streaming vids. You said you converted it to Wmv. How?
Did you use Windows Movie Maker?

Second: zips are compressed archives. When rejoined by hacha it should really be videorec001.asf NOT videorec001.zip.


To be sure, I fiddled with the files a bit.

First of all, did the same as Aznagoel: renamed all the splits to taybeg.0, .1, .2 and .3.
Hacha could rejoin them as videorec001.zip.
Older winzip couldn't open it. Winace neither. Winrar timidly protested it cointained some "videorec001.asf" but it was truncated or corrupted. It should be 12 megs long. Not just 7.
I downloaded the latest Winzip version, Winzip 9.0, to be sure... Couldn't open it either.

Even checked with a Hex editor, and it could look like a PK compressed file. I'll try PKZipFix to open it...

Oh well...
