Tickle Torture in a Play????

Either way, not too shabby for my first picture post.......I don't think this one has ever been posted before.

I would have loved to have seen that play.

One female and two male bandits tickling a helpless woman? I know exactly what play this scene takes place in because I have performed in the show myself in the past(although I was not lucky enough to play one of the bandits). The play is called Wagon Wheels West and I'm sure it has just instantly become a favorite of many of the regulars here 😉 Oh and as just another little tidbit for all you who just like hearing 'the word,' the female bandit (can't remember her name) is actually the one who is scripted to say "I know, let's tickle her!" or something to that effect.

Back in the late '70's I think, there was a production of "Taming of the Shrew" in Central Park featuring Raul Julia (sadly passed away) and Meryl Streep. There's a nice little scene of Petruchio tickling Kate's feet. I saw it on video at the Lincoln Center Library. I don't know if there's any other place to see it, but Meryl, ever the Method actress, looks quite ticklish.

I remember seeing streeps version of shrew on tv on pbs.The tickling scene was great.She really does have ticklish feet and they looked great (IF MY MEMORY SERVES ME CORRECTLY).I looked for a copy of that play for awhile but i couldn't find it anywhere....btw.....does anyone remember seeing a dance troop on tv in the 70's where the members of the troop tickled each other on stage???I mean that was the bulk of the performance!Saw it once..it was never re run.TICKLING ON PBS....who knew public television had a fetish audience

BTW, Tklr23 - when you did the play, was the victim in your production actually tickled or was it just acting?

When I was involved with the production, I remember that the victim (who was and is one of my good friends) was actually originally tickled for real during rehearsal but was so ticklish that she couldn't do her lines while being tickled so during the actual performances she was I guess what you would term as 'stage tickling.'

Thanks for this post. It's wonderful...Further to the discussion of Meryl Streep's feet - if anyone is interested in seeing a great display of her gorgeous feet (for a good, extended length of time), check out the movie Adaptation. There's a scene where she stretches out on a bed that is just marvelous.
