French knights scour the land for the last vestiges of cathar heresy.

This poor wench has been accused of associating with Cathars - and is currently under questioning by her captor, Sir Guillaume Le Fort.

Religion bars non-clergy from ministering torture on suspect heretics - but Sir Guillaume found a way to obtain a confession without harming his prisoner.

Securely chained beneath Le Fort's manor, no one will hear her plights for help.
Not in her present predicament..."

I really like sepia colour for monochrome pics.
And it's the perfect base for further colouring, very natural for the skin tones and most clothing.

I tried to make them as smooth-looking as possible.
Since pose prevented from showing her soles, I concentrated on the toes.

A curiosity: I started with a completely different pic in my mind. As drawing flowed, I realized I had done another pic altogether!

Even the french knight was first meant to be a fantasy character - I'm more into history than into fantasy - but I've drawn him so as to be able to readily substitute him for anything that catches my [your] fancy. 🙂


Say, Okari, would you like me to make him into a Teutonic knight? 😀

We could set the pic in XIII cent. and say he's torturing a baltic heathen woman, captured during the eastern crusades. 🙂

Well, ok, I'll tell ya: they look a bit like templars, but with white overcoats - templar sergeants had black and white - with a black angled cross [instead of a red, rounded cross].
