I just downloaded one of their newer clips, and I'm only getting the sound. I know it's a missing codec or something, but I'm having a hell of a time figuring out how to make it work.

True. However most people want to see more than a 10 second clip, before they purchase it.
I am one of those 'Most People' you mention, I dont think 10 seconds gives you hardly any indication at all of how good the clip is going to be.
I agree with you as well about the previews.I would probably say that I have bought more clips from this producer then any other but since they stopped offering previews I don't buy as many.I still love their work but just don't want to waste money on something that isn't my cup of tea.
