Tickletown mainstream clips...

A while ago, I was a member of Tickletown. During my time there I downloaded their entire mainstream clip archive. Now I know they were told by the people that hosted teh site that they had to take down those clips due to copyrights and such. What I want to know is, am I allowed to post these clips up onto the boards? It seems a bit of a waste to have all these clips innacessable to everybody 🙁 . Please let me know 🙂 .

Well, I havn't seen anything here stated that you can't, but I don't know for sure. But I do know that obviously many other mainsteam clips have been posted here. So I guess we'll just have to wait and see then, won't we? And yes, it would be a huge waste.

Thing is, they all have the tickletown logo at the star, and I dont want to go posting their stuff relly without permission. But then again, if they dont show tem any more....

By the way Conehead, is your avatar the Sand Village guy from Naruto?

Huh, well maybe if they don't have them anymore, then they might be willing to give you permission....hopefully.

If the clips are from mainstream sources, Tickletown could not legally copyright them unless it purchased the rights (which is highly unlikely). What probably happened is that they got in trouble for charging for other people's copyrighted material.

As a rule, it's OK to post mainstream clips here as long as they are not on the no-post list (i.e., no Howard Stern or Yaqi), do not feature any underage performers, and would not harm the commercial value of the underlying work (e.g., no movie spoilers).

oki doki 🙂 . I was only checking, cause they've all got the tickletown thing at the start, and though it's not copyrighted, it is their collection and I dont want to annoy anybody.

While we appreciate the respect being shown here, I want to reiterate what's been stated up above: we've never held copyrights to any of those items. Many of them were simply provided to us by very talented members of the tickling community. So it's all good, we won't get cranky 🙂

In fact, TickleTown is shutting down anyway (for unrelated reasons), and April is the last edition of the site.

Sad to hear you're shutting down 🙁 . Tickletown was the only pay site I've been a member of in the tickling community. Thank you for letting me know though. I'll start to post the clips up for people soon 🙂 .

Thanks for the info, Oblesklk. I did not know about Tickle Town's situation or reasons for closing, but I'm glad it is not due to copyright problems. I wish you good luck with your future business endeavours.
