Tickling as real torture.

Just a contribution. In his excellent biography Ivan The Terrible, Henry Troyat describes the use of tickling as a punishment. The bare soles of the victims were salted (I really don’t know how to say English: Put salt in the victims soles) and then licked by a bear.

The REAL fun used to occur when the bear would mistake someone's toes for an order of french fries and bite them off! You should've seen old Ivan when THAT happened...boy, would he laugh! 😎
