this may be a bit of a pointless post, but does anyone else regard some members of this forum and or community as minor celebrities? i was just going through my old posts (not many to go through) and noticed that dig dug dog (or something like that) had replied to one. immediately i thought "wow, i can't believe HE actually replied to one of my posts! he wrote that awesome 'that seventies show' story!) i remember when i ordered a video from jeff at magictouch, and had a slight problem with my mailing address (quickly taken care of, jeff is awesome), when i got his reply email, i was star struck. i'd been watching this guy's preview clips for forever, i had even seen him in a few! i couldn't believe a big honcho like him was emailing me. i could go on, anytime toyou responds to me, i freak, i don't know the guy, but his site was always my favorite (i only say was because it (tickling for fun) isn't updated anymore). i was just wondering if anyone else felt the way i do sometimes. and i also wanted to let these guys, and a bunch i didn't mention here, know that their work is sooooo appreciated, and that i'm a fan in the sense that i'm a fan of any other celebrity (maybe even a little more, since most celebrities don't do much in the way of supplying me with tickling related stuff). thanks guys/girls.

Come to a Gathering and you'll realize that we're all just people into what you're into.

Some of us just have bigger mouths than others. LOL

ROFL, Max!

You were *THIS* close to getting me to do a spit-take with that, you hoser!😛

I kind of know what you mean, cincinnatusc. I have been lucky enough to have met and/or exchanged emails with a few people who I considered to be tickling community legends. people whose sites were among the first I found or whose stories just blew me away. know what? like Max said, they ended up being just regular folks like me who happen to into this. doesn’t take away from the fact that they are incredibly talented, have to respect that, but they are just sharing like the rest of us. they are just really good at it lol.

now, in a week (happy happy joy joy) I’ll be meeting more of them. 😀

All the people you see in videos, who make them, or write stories here, are all folks just like us. I should know. I've had the pleasure of talking to most of the community video producers, lots of writers, many web site owners, and several models in my role as Tzar here. They just have cooler jobs (or hobbies) then most of us.

'Celebrity' is an odd beast, and a complicated one. A big piece of it has to do with your own concept of the celebrity. Much of what you feel is based on your image of the celeb. You are seeing the self-created image and not the real person so much. (IE: You see Dig Dug as the guy who created a great story that you loved, and in turn your pleasure of the story got bundled in with your idea of what sort of guy he is, so you had that extra positive feeling come when you encountered him in your thread (the wow you felt)) Celebs often have the problem of not being able to be seen as themselves, but only as their image selves, which they have less control over. It can be frustraiting, as I've heard from a few I know.

But I digress. Almost every Tickling Community 'celeb' I've met has been a great person. Most are bemused and flattered to get the attention.

Fun topic 🙂

Celebrity is defined by contributions, usually. Oh, and posting like a diseased babboon on crack (heh). I guess you could be a celebrity in certain fields of the tickling community. Some call me a celebrity because I'm a tickling artist who's been posting my artwork in the early TMF days. It is nice when someone you admire in the tickling community does reply back, but then again, it's not as if we're Mariah Carey-esque celebrities (ones who couldn't give a monkeys about their fans and never take the effort). Well, as a tickling community, there are some people like that (I can't name them), but overall, we love each other here!

I'll echo what Myriads said about "Celebrity". It's all a matter of perception. I was a bit blown away when I first got into the scene and started getting my work out there...I was talking to people whose work I respected a great deal. I've had the good fortune of meeting many of these individuals and everyone so far has been right. We're all actual real people here. I made several good friends that I'd be friends with even without the shared fetish. It's just the common interest that brought us together, that's all. That's what the General Discussion Forum here is for. To get to know one another outside of the tickling-related topics.

Now, if you'll excuse me, the boy has laid out my evening clothes and the limo will be here shortly. God, I hate paparazzi. Ghouls.

😀

When I first found the online community, I considered folks like Max and Jeff (and others) to be celebrities. I practicly worshipped them for what they gave to the community....such as the community was at that point. There wasn't a lot out there and I was new to finding things online. So, my excitement got the better of me. Now that the community has grown tremendously and I've had the opportunity to talk with them in various situations and shared some of my own fun with others, I recognize that we're all very much real people. So, while I still have appreciation and respect for what each individual gives to the community, I no longer find it a matter of worshipping them. 😉

I've had a few folks refer to me as having star or celeb status because of my sites. It always makes me wince. I'm no star! And I definitely don't want to be considered one! I'm just another person like everyone else here who loves tickling enough to want to share that love with others. It's relatively easy (compared to some things) these days to put together a site or a few stories and toss them out there for folks to see. Just because some of us are a bit more visible than others in how we express our love of tickling doesn't mean we're any better or more important than anyone else.

It's the overall give and take that folks share in places like this that is the really important part to me. So, if folks want to consider SOME of us to be stars, they should consider ALL (themselves included) to be stars. After all, we've come out of the closet and said who we are...no matter how limitted that may be in different cases. That's bigger than anything else we can do. The stars in my book are those who accept themselves for who they are and live their lives accordingly.

Most welcome, Ann. I wish I could be there with you. I also love the show, but do not have it on tape.

i can echo some of the thoughts that some members feel here regarding TMF "celebrities". i too, got caught up in the "celebrity" thing. i enjoyed reading stories from some of the great authors of tickling fiction out there. that ranges from Dave2112 to TQLR to Shem the Penman and many many others. when i started writing stories, i felt honored that some of my favorite authors actually responded to one of MY stories. it was like "wow, he liked my story!!". it makes me feel like i did a good job writing a story.

as for treating them as a "celebrity", we can, but not to the point it becomes a worship type thing. i wouldnt do that with a mainstream celebrity. they are people like us. they are not better than us, and we are not better than them. the "celebrities" here at the TMF are regular people, and if i ever meet any of them, i will treat them as a regular person. but on the flip side, the "celebrities" that are here at the TMF should really take it as a compliment, nothing more, nothing less. it simply means your contribution to the tickling community is very special and people want to thank you.

my two cents.....
