When I was in college, I was in the theater department with a girl upon whom I was fighting to avoid developing a big stupid crush. She was painfully beautiful to look upon, had a magificent singing voice, but also had the personality of a belt sander. (She insisted that her boyfriend at the time arrange his entire class schedule one semester in order to spend every period with her, at severe risk to his GPA. A month later, she got bored and dropped all the classes he had fought so hard to get into. The poor lad snapped, stole a jeep, and led police on a high speed chase down Route 206. You understand the kind of woman we're dealing with now?)
Anyhow, I had a dream during that time that she was lying near a rustic house in a grassy field, wearing jeans and a plaid shirt. I dreamt that I was kneeling beside her, tickling her gently and playfully on the ribs, belly, and underarms. She didn't struggle, but rather squirmed gleefully, grinned with joy and laughed loud and long in her gloriously musical voice. This went on for a while, until I was distracted by a sound like running crowds and roaring water coming from inside the house. I got up, opened the door and looked inside to see a long hallway filled with extras from The Ten Commandments running to get out of the way of the oncoming Red Sea.
I consulted a dictionary of dream symbols and found that tickling symbolizes the subconscious warning you not to pursue a sexual relationship with the person you dream of tickling. I was at a loss to explain the Egyptian extras and the Red Sea, though, until a friend theorized that my subconscious was trying to tell me that pursuing this girl would have been "a disaster of Biblical proportions."😀
