Just a heads up that tonight I was flipping through a new magazine called Tongue (published by Gene Simmons..go figure).

Anyways, one of the articles was '10 Insane Fetishes' or something like that, and our favorite past time was listed as number nine. Just thought someone would be interested.

We're all different, and who is to say the "vanilla" folks are any more sane than those who do things in an "alternative" way? The so-called mainstream media, especially the tabloid talk shows like Springer and Dr. Phil, describe everything non-vanilla as "insane" or "perverted." The one time I saw a "tickle mistress" on one of those shows she was portrayed as unflatteringly as possible, tickling an extremely flabby, toothless actor portraying a married man; and then they bring out the actress playing his wife, and then the fistfight and thrown chairs ensue, etc.

I'd rather have no publicity than bad publicity for our lifestyle. I hope that the Internet remains uncensored and free http://www.cdt.org

Which issue are you talking about? I am a HUGE KISS fan and I have the first two issues of Tongue magazine and I don't remember nor find anything about the top 10 fetishes. Maybe I overlooked it?

I don't remember exactly what word they used, maybe it was 'extreme', but it was not intended to be insulting. And I believe it was the December issue. I saw it at a Barnes & Noble.

I can't really get upset over what one person or entity has to say. It is, after all, Gene Simmons, who always struck me as a little goofy. But depicting ticklers as "extreme," "wierd," etc does help to keep the squeamish vanilla riff-raff out.

Breaks my heart when I think of all the times I restrained myself (no pun intended here 🙄 ) from tickling opportunities that arose, and/or stopped WAYYYYYY too soon, just to avoid people learning my dark, terrible secret--I loved to tickle. What a waste. Wish somebody'd invent a time travel machine so I could go back and teach myself what I know now! And the people I know in the community are, for the most part, anyhow, the happiest, most well-adjusted folks I've had the pleasure to have met. I guess tickling is good for the soul. The article is called "The 10 Most Outrageous Fetishes" and here is the order they are listed in:

I personally did not get too insulted by that article, becuase I didn't interpret the word "outrageous" as being negative or derogatory. I see the word as meaning exciting, or fresh or too wonderful beyond belief! Even more, the description of what we do didn't appear to be condascending. I think back to how Howard Stern was destroying Yaqi. Now THAT was condascending.

Besides, after reading in a previous post of all the other "fetishes" out there (there are dozens and dozens of them), No. 9 doesn't seem so bad. I am happy Tickling got some coverage

Also, I don't think that this was an "official" tally, based on polls, scientific research and statistical number crunching. Even better, if we look at the list according to the style of David Letterman's "top-ten" list, the fact that we are mentioned ninth, makes us Number 2!

Heehehee... Ok. Did anyone else find this as amusing as I did? I'm not at all offended about people thinking tickling is weird or outrageous.

The funny thing is, now that my mother and my little sister know about it, they both take turns teasing me. So last night I told my mother I was into trampling and spanking too just to see what she would say. *giggle* She said that anyone into pain was mentally ill.

I believe that you are right. I don't think the list was in any particular order of "most popular." The article did not bother me either for I like the fact that "tickling" is becoming more and more accepted as a fun and unique type of fore-play! Plus...I love that magazine.
