Ticklish medical test

I'm in medical school now, and the other day we were learning how to perform an abdominal exam. As one part of the exam, you have to determine the size of the liver. This is normally done by palpation or percussion, but we learned another method called the "scratch test." Basically you put your stethoscope over the middle of the liver and lightly scratch your way up the right side of the belly with one finger, from the bottom to the top. You won't hear anything in the stethoscope until your finger scratches over the lower border of the liver, and then you'll hear the scratching being transmitted through the liver into the stethoscope. As it turns out my partner was pretty ticklish... at first her stomach just kind of jumped and twitched, then she giggled out loud and said it was really ticklish. I said I was sorry but that I just couldn't find the where the liver started... it actually took me a minute or so 🙂 The best part was watching the guys in the room, trying to put up such a masculine front! Anyone ever experienced anything like this at the doctor?

Tickling at the doctor's office

College Girl, if you like to tickle, you are going to have some unintentional (and maybe some intentional, too😉 ) FUN when you examine ticklish patients. I am ticklish all over and, yes, doctors have tickled me when examining my torso, many times.

It's a funny coincidence that you posted this question. Just yesterday a lady doctor, covering for my regular physician, examined my midsection because I thought I had a skin problem. I wondered if she'd tickle me, but she did not touch as much as she just looked.
But here's the interesting part: She said while there was no problem with my skin as far as she could tell, "You have fair skin and you're 42 years old. As a precaution, I am going to refer you to a dermatologist for a head-to-toe examination." Then she gave me a referral for a FEMALE dermatologist. Don't know how much a dermatologist touches you, but I will find out. It might get interesting when she examines me, especially if she's attractive. My appointment is May 23rd. Great post! I am a very ticklish guy and have found the palpatation and percussion abdominal exam from my internest, the Babinski test form my podiatrist, etc. to be quite ticklish. I wonder if this new test will gain popularity? It sounds pretty ticklish.
