Hey people!!!

Does anyone else think that toning your body can actually make you more ticklish?

I am a pro bodybuilder, and I was ticklish always, but since the last 3 years, ever since my 6 pack abs took shape, my stomach and sides have become rock-hard, and insanely ticklish!!!

Recently my girlfriend (who also has a thing for tickling) tied me down, and when she started kneading my sides, i went absolutely ballistic!!!

I have been tickled before, but never felt so overwhelmed that I become unable to move, and lapse into hysteric silent laughter!!!

Anyone have any similar experiences??
 
My situation is similar. Altough, I do not have a well defined six pack, I do work out and have become more toned. I have always been very ticklish, but I share your experience that working out seems to have made me even more ticklish, especially on the abs, thighs and sides. My wife has realized this and takes advantage of it, frequently tickling me on these easily reached ticklish areas. I have previously made a post about becoming paralyzed or unable to move when tickled intensely; however, I was already that way before I became a regular at the health club. Being tickled causes me to laugh uncontrolably; the more it tickles the more hysterical and higher pitched my laughter is. I guess I have a strong voice since I have to be tickled a very long time before I reach the silent laughter stage. I don't know how much truth there is to it, but I have repeatedly heard others say that body builders and athletes tend to be much more ticklish than the average guy which would fit with our experience of becoming more ticklish as we increase our muscle tone.
 
Hmm I thought it was the softer and flabberier you are the easier it is for fingers to knead and tickle you. But since Im not ticklish what do I know.

muscular = more ticklish

I've heard this argument as well, it makes sense.

Muscles have the ability to contract (fat doesn't) so a muscle can be more reactive to a poke or prod.

Its also just in my experience tickling guys that I've seen more ticklish responses poking a guy with muscle tone in the abs or sides versus alot of gut. So it seems to take more 'kneeding' (as mentioned earlier) to get through the fat and to the muscle.

Tickling muscles

I have recently developed a six pac and am working to make it an eight pac. I was always very ticklish and becoming more muscular did not increase my ticklishness. However, the tickling does feel different. It is hard to discribe really but the extra muscle makes the ticklish twitching and writhing more powerful.

That is soooo weird because I was just talking to my good friend about this.

For ME... and this is just for me, although I am super ticklish, I know for a fact that I was more ticklish in certain spots when I was tone/ more muscular.

Especially my stomach!!!!!

And since I am honestly thinking about playing basketball again (adult league/ or whereever the path takes me), and I am currently getting back in shape.... I think I'm going to be in even more trouble than I was before. 😛

I'd have to agree with the common consensus. Though I have only recently started lifting weights again( like so many of us I'm trying to trim down and tone up, more for health reasons than cosmetic) I HAVE developed a good deal of muscle from working @ a physically demanding job, which often requires me to lift 40-50 lbs repetetively and quickly during an eight hr shift. After doing this for over a yr, I have developed fairly nice muscles in my legs and thighs, arms , and have started to tone my midsection(though that's gonna need some work, like extended tickling sessions! LOL😉 )
Anyway I too have noticed increased ticklishness/sensitivity on the muscular areas of my legs and thighs, arms and even my sides. Maybe when you're toned/becomming toned, your body is more in tune with itself and your reactions are quicker(if twitching muscles ) than someone who has more adipose tissue.
Just one more reason for us ticklephiles to get fit(or at least for THIS one! :tickle: Maybe the entraprenaures(sp) among us should start a chain of "tickling gyms" who needs free weights when you have feathers!

Thank God I decided to recertify as a personal trainer and get back in the gym. I did it for health and financial reasons, but now I have the best reason of all. Please let it make me more ticklish. 😀
 
Does anyone here have any good science on the relationship between this topic and the chemical in the brain and body named, "cortisol" ? (I can't spell it, so I fake it)

I'm getting different bits and pieces of data from diverse sources, and am interested in this.

I don't have it all perfect and clear in my mind at this moment.

I do have suspicions.
