See the lights, see the stars, see the big silverscreen...and yet have any of us seen anything decent within the last couple of years? I know I haven't and yet critics keep dropping the same phrases on the same crap that has been rehashed over and over. "It's terriffic, a must see, movie of the year....until the next one". Well i'll tell yas if I was a critic I would use phrases lie, "Snorefest, haven't we've seen this before, and who under 5 would watch this"? People Hollywood is putting a vale over everyone's eye, they're out of ideas. And yet people payin upwards to 10 dollars, not including snacks, to see something they can probably find in their old VHS cassets. Let's disect my rant into sections for a couple of genres that's becoming more stale than the cold cereal on my carpet.

Horror: Remember when horror movies use to be so friggin scary you wouldn't sleep cause Freddy was going to get you? Yeah I can't remember that far back either. I saw a recent movie called "The Hills have Eyes". I've got to tell you that modern horror movies are going for more gore than scares nowadays. It's should've been called the Hills have blood, like boils in your underware too much. And if it isn't gore that ruins it, it is CGI. Old movies use old-fashioned makeup and techniques to scare an audiance, Now that was realisitic. Today it's nothing but CGI. I don't care how realisitc it gets it's still looks too fake. Okay not like old believable fake but this is not believable fake. Like AVP for example....okay sure it's not true horror but it's close enough. Old AVP movies, old techniques. New AVP, CGI and I'm not scarred one bit...actually kinda boring...yeah.

Action: I'm up for explosions, sci-fi, mass armies, etc, but must it be used over and over again? How many Sci-fi movies have come out just this year? I can't name many but I tell you it's been a lot. And then there's your mission impossiables, 18 blocks, collateral....it just kinda blends in after a while. Action moives aren't know for intellegent plot lines but there are movies that seem so impossiably dumb that you can't believe they made it. Like the movie about a jet that attacks people...wtf? And then you miss the jewels cause there is too much crap to wade through.

Kids movies: There is something about 2006 that has spawned the most kid-friendly movies in Hollywood history. And quite frankly it's starting to ware me in. I feel sorry for all the parents to have be dragged in by their children to watch a movie they don't want to watch. It's sad how children can't identify really lame plots before it's too late.

Romance: Chicks only, please don't make us watch.

Anyone notice the remakes, rehashes, and beated with a stick films coming out? My gosh are some of them as horriable as hell. I mean Big Mamma's houes 2, The Omen, Herbie? Come on the living car movie has a remake? What is worse than those are movies based on games, comics, or books. Those topics seem to make horriable translations into moives because the producers never seem to be in touch with the subject matter or make a movie on something that shouldn't be a movie. Electra, Blood Rayne, DaVinci Code, no one need to watch these ever.

The only good movie I've seen is Click cause someone actually used originallity but what is that, 1 good movie after 676 bad ones?

Look if Hollywood expects me or you to pay our hard earned cash on a 2 hour or so flick give us something different for once. Make a movie that dosen't make us cringe every 5 mins as we go "Damn why the hell did they do this"?

Commetts for me? Ha See if I care.

Comets? Well, Haley's comet is coming around. Also, that is why we need people like you. To catch the comets.

on the note of action flicks, it's like going easter egg hunting. once in a little while there's a very good one, where plot and action combine for a spine tingling flick, and all the others just makes for great eye candy. for example, i hate The Matrix 3, but i really like the eye candy graphics, even though i could crap a better plot.

examples for me, of those special, spine tingling easter egg flicks are: Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow; I, Robot; V for Vendette; Hollow Man; Sahara; just to name a few.
