I'm on dial-up as well and I'm using a 5 year old comp so, it takes me about a 2 minutes or more to download just 1 meg of anything. If anyone else has to deal with this then, try some of these things...

Instead of downloading and watching one clip at a time, try waiting until you've downloaded atleat 8 before you watch any of them. Another thing to help pass the time while you're waiting on a download is to find something else interesting to do on your computer like listening to music or playing a game or what ever makes time seem to go by faster. This always works well for me so, I figured I'd pass it along. Hope this helps.

Wrong Thread, and I'm sure people already find other ways to entertain themselves while they suffer through dial-up. I have Cable, so I'm not waiting for videos.

I live in a remote area where dial-up is the primary method of connecting, so I usually do photo editing or writing tasks while waiting for videos to download. If I'm downloading something huge (over 4 MB/15 min.), I usually go and get something to eat or drink while the file loads.

I'm sometimes stranded with dialup as well, when my main isp takes a vacation.
When it happens, it really messes with my surfing habits.

I usually dig up something funky from my hd, and start checking older stuff I never watched when I first got it over dsl.

I often pack up for winter, so to say...

Yeah, I've done that too.......I have dial up, so I deal.

I also have to read the thread carefully for replies, because sometimes the file is labeld with F/F or M/M , and so on, so I have downloaded stuff and then watched it, only to see it was something I didn't want. lmao

This goes to show why properly labelling contents is so important.

Are you looking for tips on how to make the best of your dial-ul connection (in terms of speed and material) or in how to harmoniously integrate this awkward and obsolete technology into your life ?

I always found that while waiting for large files (over 10 megs or so), doing other activities, as the mistress mentioned, helped me forget about the pain of waiting for a lousy 10 meg file. Some of these activities included cooking 5 course dinners, writing a screenplay or two, playing 18 holes of golf, or coming up with a cure for cancer or other life-threatening illnesses. Any of the above, will probably get you through a 10 meg download on dial-up. :grind_tee

Thank you for that useless reply, my fellow Tarheel. As for the rest of you, I sympathise. Being poor sucks big time!

Since one purchased clip takes four hours to load for me, I rarly can find something to do for that long. Maybe a movie or two. I generally wait untill early in the morning before I go to work. Dial up suuuuuuuucks!!!!!!!

I like porn as much as the next person but dial-up is fine for 2MB anyways though I could easily afford high-speed which itself is impractical for this kind of surfing or emailing. Unless you have a home business need, which i suspect may not be as common around here. Besides, I do not pay for porn in any way shape or form.
