Not as frighteningly detailed as the color pictures the Woods Hole expedition shot in 1986, but every bit as eerie.
Reminds me a bit of the pictures of the moon taken by the unmanned lunar explorers in the 1960s.
I actually saw an exhibition of artifacts reclaimed from the ship, back around 2001 or so. Clothing which was no doubt worn by victims of the disaster. Pieces of the ship itself. Personal possessions. Fascinating, and eerie.
As an aside, they found the wreckage of Monitor, the Civil War era battleship which was lost in a storm only weeks after its battle with the Merrimack. (They found the Hunley about I guess 7 years ago.)
