Like many of us, I'm somewhat gutless when it comes to bringing up the subject of tickling in vanilla society settings...But if someone else brings it up I'll do what I can to prolong the topic. This time was a little different.
My son (TkO) and I were running errands this weekend and had to stop off at the local shopping mall. He always runs off to the music store or booksellers, of course, leaving the old man to deal with the dirty work. Once the chores were done, I decided to get my hair cut at this place where an unusually large bald guy normally does the honors. He was yet to come on duty when I entered. In fact, being rather early in the day, the only person in the shop (salon?) was a young lady about 25 yrs of age, not bad looking, fake blonde, as is the style these days. At any rate, she began the chop-job, babbling as a brook the whole time. She somehow came upon the subject of "Fear Factor," saying how much she enjoyed watching the show but would not be on it for any reason. Sensing an opportunity, I mentioned an article I read about the next season of the show, and some of the outlandish things people were afraid of but would try on TV. This was, of course, a big LIE. I listed 2 subjects that I now can't even remember, then told her about a young woman who was afraid to have her feet tickled. She stopped, mid-snip, and looked at me in the mirror without moving her head, then continued as if nothing had changed. But I had changed! I looked in the mirror and my face was an ever so lovely shade of red! I couldn't believe I said that! "Fear Factor" was not brought up again during the course of the trim...Lead what you want into that about the lady's reaction. To me, it meant she WAS ticklish, and felt no need to talk further about it. Anyway, it was fun! Maybe I'll have to forego my "gutless" ways more often in the future!
