The TMF really is a worldwide network of tickling, proven by some facts from our statistics: So far, we've had visits from 78 (!) different countries! Top 10:

1) USA
2) Canada
3) Italy
4) Japan
5) Germany
6) United Kingdom
7) France
8) Australia
9) Belgium
10) Brazil

While USA and Canada as leaders are not surprising, Italy's 3rd place is rather unexpected, as is Belgium (a comparatively small country) on rank 9.

We have visitors from far north (Faroe Islands and Iceland) as well as from the South Pacific (of course Australia and New Zealand, but also Fiji!), from predominantly Islamic countries (Turkey, Indonesia, Malaysia, Egypt, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Oman), from the population-rich states like China and India to extremely small nations like Trinidad and Tobago, Malta, and Gibraltar (!). A considerable amount comes from ex-USSR-states like Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Ukraine, and Georgia (no, not the US-state!). Africa is represented by South Africa, Mauritius, and Egypt; 12 Asian states and almost all nations from South America (except Bolivia, Colombia and Surinam) show visits, as well as practically all European states (except Albania, Andorra and the Vatican 🙂).

The computer only counts the domains from which the visitors log into the TMF. More nations could be hidden there (over 37% from .com, 26% .net domains, and almost 20% domains unidentifiable by the computer). Another interesting fact: nearly 16000 visits came from .edu domains (university and college sites), over 1400 from non-profit organizations (.org), and we had 195 visits from .gov (governmental domains) as well as 176 visits from .mil (US military comps)!

Statistics can be amusing sometimes! 😀

Wow, Hal, that's pretty cool! That makes us ambassadors or something like that, doesn't it? We could solve all of the worlds problems by having our reps in tickling contests or something! Food for thought. Did I say FOOD? I just finished eating and I'm stuffed. Why would I be thinking of food. Or, maybe I'm not thinking? Or.... oh, nevermind!

wow

that is pretty cool Hal, I know when I first got on the internet, I used to cruise chatrooms not looking for people to tickle, but for people from as far away as possible, to pick their brain about what life was like there. Met lots of people from austrailia, and the pacific Islands actually, even a few who liked tickling. I think it is so facsinating the way we can chat with people here who are in different parts of the world. It can be frustrating that you can't run up the street and grab a beer with them, but it is a great way to learn about the world. IT is good to know that this forum has spread so far, and is offering something to so many people, registered or not.

hooray for the TMF!

That is truly amazing. The thought of my stories, comments and art going out to a good portion of the world astounds me.

It really is the members that make this such a great place. We have our little fights, but in general, this is the best community on the planet, and the TMF is the ONLY place to be to join in!

I think some MAJOR kudos need to go out to Jeff, Myriads and all of the Mods for making this place what it is, and to everyone who's ever posted anything here for adding to the family.😎

Hmmm. I can't stop wondering who the .gov visitor(s) may be... 🙂

I think it's so great to have people from all over the world here in our small town of tickle enthusiasts! Maybe one or the other from the more exotic destinations could show up?

And Slappy, your quote from 'Contact' by Carl Sagan is so wonderful; it's one of my favorite books! 😎

thanks hal

as shameful as this may be, I have yet to read the book, but I saw the movie and simply fell in love with it... it is the only time in my life I have been afraid that the book would ruin the movie for me... I think it is the perfect metaphore for interpersonal communication, among other things... everyone keeps telling me the book is good.. I might have to take the risk. anyway, thanks for noticing.
