Ok, here's how we'll do this. People are responding quickly and it seems the popularity of this little game has not waned! Nice to know.

See? We can all get along! :triangle:

Anyway, I'm going to post two rounds at a time and see how that goes. So, this is Round 5 and Round 6 will be posted at the same time.

In the last round, Fleetwood Mac basically annihilated REO Speedwagon 17-8. I swear, you people have no effin' taste in mus......Oops! Sorry. Just kidding guys.

This round and the next one (again, look for BOTH) are going to get interesting. Some of the first-tier brackets are a matter of taste, and a few pit some seriously popular bands against each other. These are two of them.

Round 5 pits two guitar gods against each other.

Led Zeppelin vs. Van Halen

I know....you guys hate me. :cool2:

I expect a lot of opinions on these two rounds, so make your voices heard and keep your favorite alive!

Zeppelin without any hesitation.

If it were just about guitar, I'd say Eddie has the edge over Jimmy. But Zeppelin has incredible talent on all the instruments, not to mention shaping the direction of hard rock for years to follow.

What does Van Halen have to boast about besides Eddie on guitar? David Lee Wroth? :blaugh:

Gotta go with the Zep, myself. They were just too influential. I like VH, but to be honest was not even a really big fan until Sammy joined. Eddie kills, and basically spawned an entire generation of guitarists. But what Jimmy Page brought to the table went even beyond that.

Led Zeppelin is one of those few bands I listen to that does not have one single song that I flat-out do not like. I can pick up any Zep disc in my collection, start it at any point and completely groove on it.

So, Zep for me.

Zepplin... I can't even believe this is being asked.

YOU CAN DO BETTER THEN THIS, DAVE !

'JUMP' is a very special song to me

just because of that I have to vote for Van Halen 😛

An Epic Battle that...

could go either way.

Let's break it down:

Led Zeppelin is an awesome singer, much better than Van Halen, who seems to have two or three distinct vocal styles. I think Van Halen should stick to one or the other, but I have to give him kudos for flexibility.

Van Halen is an excellent lead player, but Led Zeppelin is a better rhythm/song writer.

Mr. Zeppelin and Mr. Halen are both proficient hair farmers as well, each boasting magnificent plumage; and killer names to boot.

See? This is a tough call.

I'll have to give this round to Led Zeppelin. :bowing:

I am going against the norm and voting Van Halen.

Led Zep is great....but after a while, the songs become annoying more than enjoyable. Where as with Van Halen, Hot for Teacher, Panama, Jump, just to name a few can get me rocking every time I hear them.

I know they will lose heavily...but Im still voting for Van Halen.

COME ON YOU ED-HEADS!! VOTE!!

Rob

Bwaaahahahahahahaha:blaugh:

Zeppelin

Do I need to explain myself? Go listen to "How Many More Times" from the first record. 'Nuff said!!

This will be over quickly Dave......:bouncybou

Zep hands dow...the music is never old....:bouncybou

I used to love Van Halen when I was little. Then I realized that without Eddie, they're basically glorified arena rockers. That was a sad day.

Come on Dave, gimmie a break

As much as I love the Zep, Van Halen will ALWAYS be the greatest rock n roll band of all time. Plant was great, but Dave was THE quintessential front-man. Page was legendary (albeit a bit sloppy) but Eddie changed guitar forever.

I like Van Halen ( well , pre-Sammy Hagar VH , anyway ) ... they were a truly great band.

But I LOVE Led Zeppelin. There's no such thing as a bad Led Zeppelin song ... unless you're like Run DMC & "bad" actually means "good" ... in which case all Zep songs are baaaaaaad. :devil2:

I'm a Led-Head all the way.

Tangerine and Battle of Evermore are my favourites.

Van Halen's "Jump" has to be one of the most boring songs ever made.
