I just received an email addressed by [email protected] with the message "Thanks to all" or something similar and a .pif document attached. I scanned the file and my virus scan informed me it was infected. Could be some sort of glitch, but I thought it was worth mentioning in case someone is somehow using your address to send a virus or bogus file of some sort. Something to look into, so that someone doesn't get messed up. Wouldn't want any punks soiling your good name.

congradulations, you've just gotten your first worm.

there's a couple of these little beggars going around right now.

what's happening is, whoever *is* infected by the virus winds up having their computer send out bunches of E-mails with the virus in it, and that virus impersonates someone from the infected computer's address book. In other words, no one is specifically trying to ruin Jeff's good name by impersonating him, he's just in the address book of someone who's caught the virus.

I've been getting little "gifts" from infected users for weeks now, and they all appear to be coming from TMF users and tickling video vendors. Funny to see just who else is in the addy books of people who keep my address...
