Too Many Youtube embeds, or what?

Hello there Tech Gods and Goddesses. I am told that people (at least one or two) are having problems with the youtube links on the "History Thread" I started in GenDis. They seem to think the sheer number of youtube embeds is a problem or something. Now, I haven't had such problems, and I don't know why they are, but if you've got any suggestions, that'd be great.

Only thing I can figure is they're not allowing the page to load all the way before trying a clip. Any other thoughts?

Whatever it is, the problem inspired one poster to try and launch his own history thread. He gave it my name which was nice and all, but I was just hoping we could keep the one thread running -- a central location for all things of this sort that are history-related.

Please let me know if you have any probs with running the youtube clips, or alternatively, what you'd recommend to posters who are having such issues.

Do you know the specific problem(s)? It is difficult for me to divine solutions to issues given as just "problems". HDS is many things; Ms. Cleo is not one of 'em. 😀

I do sometimes get the "video plays for two seconds and then stops" problem; that is solved by closing my browser and restarting it. Updating to the latest Flash player from Adobe.com may also be in order if you use an old version.

Sometimes many embedded videos can cause that issue, at least for me. I've found that if I visit the page with lots of videos (or, as I am wont to do, reopen the dozen or so vids I opened to view) that it works only after the restart of the browser. If that doesn't work try a full computer reboot; it's amazing how much that fixes.
